That's funny! Very sweet though!

I think I'm giggling like a teenage girl now! ;-)

Great idea about a pre-show meet, now we just need the show!!!!

By the way, I will be travelling to Florida in July to visit family/friends and celebrate my big 4-0, so if you Florida peeps would like to meet for coffee or whatever, I will be staying in Daytona Beach Shores and I know one day I am travelling to Orlando to visit my friend that works at the Virgin Megastore.

Just thought I would throw the idea out there if you are game.

When in July? I could probably meet you at the Virgin Store. Downtown Disney one?? That place has an expensive cover charge, though. I've never gotten out for less than $40. :D

I know---a record store---dangerous territory for my wallet--lol!!!!

I will actually be there from July 23-29, with the 27th being my birthday. At this point I have not decided what I am doing and when, still working on details, etc. but I will let you know what day I will be in Orlando. And yes, it is the store at Downtown Disney.

would love it if you can make it over!!!!!!

Hey, my birthday's July 29, very close!

Hmm, well I'm in Florida, but I'm very north Florida- Pensacola. I don't know where I'll be heading this summer, but if I head south, I'll keep that in mind. :D

Concert

Postby Some Kind Of Fool on Sun May 21, 2006 1:42 pm

Japan at Birmingham Odeon in November 1982 was my first ever gig. My father took me there and I was just twelve years old at the time.

Oh the memories.

Wow---we should party together!!! How close is Jacksonville to where you are? Reason I'm asking is my niece lives there and I may be there a day or so during that same week--still very up in the air on details but let me know.

Birmingham Odeon November 1982

Well, it wasn't so much because my father was a Japan fan, it was because he thought I was too young to attend on my own.

I recall that we were only able to secure single seats and I ended up next to two eighteen year old female fans who took pity on me. I bought a Sons Of Pioneers t-shirt and a tour programme, both of which I still have.

The set was pretty much as Oil On Canvas, but also included if I recall, Alien and The Other Side Of Life.

I had no idea at the time that it was a farewell tour and only when a copy of Smash Hits landed on my hall floor with the band on the front cover and the headline "Japan: A Happy Ending?" that I realised it was all over.

The shows I've attended were:

In Praise of Shamans - April 11, 1988, Kanihoken Hall, Tokyo
The First Day - March 6, 1992, Orchard Hall, Tokyo
The First Day - March 7, 1992, Shibuya Kokaido, Tokyo
The First Day - March 10, 1992, Kanihoken Hall, Tokyo

(Though it wasn't a concert, I also got to see Ember Glance in 1990, and an exhibit of Anton Corbijn photos (it was either 1989 or 1990) that included photos of David Sylvian and a showing of the "Red guitar" and "The ink in the well" videos.)

I moved back to the US a few months later, so I've missed every subsequent tour, except for the Road to Graceland Tour performance that came out on laserdisc.
