Manafon deluxe edition - too expensive??

I thought the deluxe edition was limited to only 2000 copies but closer reading on the Samadhi shop suggests otherwise. I wonder how many have actually been produced?

An accompanying (18.5cm x 23.5cm) black on white high quality print of a portrait of David Sylvian by Atsushi Fukui, each individually signed by the artist and David Sylvian (only the first 2000 copies carry signed editions of the print).

From Samhadisound today re: my deluxe set order... "Your order has been updated to the following status: Shipped"

Hurrah! It 'may' even arrive by the release date.

Apparently not TOO expensive since it's now sold out... and just when I thought I'd be coming into some money to be able to order it. :smt022 :smt090

No Slyvo in Surround for me. Here I was having a good morning... now not so much.

Just curious, anyone in the UK who has already received your deluxe edition...did you have to pay import tax on it?

That's my plight too! Maybe we should start a support group. Those complaining about waiting for theirs are starting to depress me. ;)

Guys, have you done the math on this? 2000 X $85 plus how many of the standard CD. We are talking quite a revenue generatee here with Monafan. I wold say the cost of a blank CD and packaging is about $2. Makes one think , doesnt it?

ah yes but you havent taken into account printing costs, artist fees, Chris Bigg design fees, marketing, website costs, e-commerce costs etc. I don't expect sylvian will make much if anything from this release.

Yes, the posh packaging of the deluxe edition was probably quite pricey I should think! If it was produced in such a small quantity I doubt he made much of a profit.
