can anyone scan this i cant buy it were i am and its not available online are there uptodate pics or older ones that havent been seen.

i would if i had a scanner..........not sure if the main picture with the long hair is a recent one ? Looks a couple of years old to me. I would not say there are any pics there that i have not seen before.

Does sylvian mention any future works other than Manafon? Any talk of a tour?

No mention of a tour i am afraid but as for future plans i quote " I've been really lucky to make a change in the way i approach the work. I no longer make work that i don't want to. It feels like a completely different role. The process is different because i am not repeating myself. I feel very fortunate that i have turned that corner. I've produced work in the last five years that sounds unlike anything else that sounds unlike anything produced before by a pop musician. That's what i've wanted to do and that's what i have achieved. There's a certain amount of appreciation of that fact but it feels like the tip of the iceberg. I feel i can dig so much deeper but i don't know where to dig. That's why i've brought things to a halt. It'll be interesting to see where that leads me next. It's still all out there to be done."

P.S. Did you copy that right, ob: "I've produced work in the last five years that sounds unlike anything else that sounds unlike anything produced before by a pop musician"? He's not just saying that what he's doing now is different, but that it's different from whatever alternative "pop music" has been produced up to now?

Yes i have quoted exactly what he said ! At the end of the article there is a small note saying More Mojo David Sylvian through the ages - the ultimate video playlist. More on Manafon due out September 14th. I cant see anything in the magazine so there might well be something on Davids videos next issue.

David is right about having produced music that sounds unlike any other pop musician. I am a little suprised he has classed himself as a pop musician. For me he was but not now.

This shoddily put together 'video playlist' of David's music, is a perfect example of lazy journalism & minimal research. Apart from the numerous inaccuracies it is no more than anyone with 5 minutes spare and access to YouTube could hack together...

I picked up the magazine on Friday and leafed through the print article before purchasing. As I had suspected it (a) offered nothing particularly new to seasoned fans of Sylvian's work, and (b) gave a pretty poor introduction to newcomers. I didn't buy it.

Unless you feel compelled to own a few random old pictures of David and enjoy low quality writing I'd give it a miss. Mind you, it's fair to say that I'm less than a fan of anything much that MOJO does

I agree with you Lee. The Mojo is a wasted opportunity. I was expecting a lot more on the Manafon release but its the same old ground of Japan, Rain Tree Crow and gurus. No new photos either. Shame. I'm expecting a lot more from the forthcoming Wire interview which should hopefully go into a bit more detail on the creative process behind Manafon.
