Actually, Simonp, I wouldn't think that it would be just wishful thinking that at least some of the new cd could sound partially like the piece The World Is Everything. Just recall the description of the cd's content from David himself - which I had shared previously : "a completely modern kind of chamber music. Intimate, dynamic, emotive, democratic, economical." I would tend to believe that The World Is Everything could easily fall under a description such as that. The music for that particular track is made up of piano and string quartet (albeit sampled) - which could easily be classified somewhat as chamber music. From what we have learned, there will be piano (evidently performed by John Tilbury) on the new one and also it's been reported that there shall be cello (though I happen to believe that the cellist involved may be Michael Moser rather than Taku Sugimoto - but I have been incorrect before and do not, in any way, intend to spread speculation under the guise of 'fact'). But my point, after all that, is that it is not out of the question that something on the new cd would happen to be similar to The World Is Everything.
I guess the really important aspect would revolve mainly around Sylvian's usage of melody or lackthereof. It all hinges on that one factor.

Well It's been a looong time since I last posted here!
Hi to all!

Well, what I can tell you is that this album is likely going to devide the fans...
...Much like Blemish, you will either love it or hate it!
The important part is to listen to it without too many pre-concieved opinions.

As with all David's work, the beauty is in the details which reveal themselves only after repeated listenings!

All the best,
Chris

i cant see how The World is Everything can be used as an indication to the sound of the new album, it is a beautiful track but its for me very much David on familiar territory. Its not a powerfully bold, uncompromising piece. I want to be challenged listening to this album, for David to push the boundaries or even ignore them all together. I am getting a tad impatient now though, no news (from Samadhi) is definately not good news !

I appreciate your interest, yet unfortunately I have nothing new to add to the conversation. And, in all honesty, now I am not quite sure if I would be so willing to just throw any more info out there as I had been so willfully doing. It turns out that some of that which I shared last year was incorrect and some of the recent info is a little off-the-mark as well. I especially feel embarrassed that all of it wound up so widespread on the internet and aspects of it may very well be proven false. More importantly, I've also been informed that Sylvian and his management have an extremely negative view of all website forums and I can only surmise that they would really frown upon my unfiltered rumor mongering - no matter how earnestly in-depth I may have attempted to research the bits of info I have accumulated regarding this project over the past three-plus years.
Basically, all I can do now is agree that Manafon will be an extremely polarizing release and, as Chris mentioned, it may very well have the tendency to divide the listening base. I just hope that others, much like I have done, have taken the time to accustom themselves to the sounds of the many artists from Erstwhile Records who have participated in the recording process. I've been preparing myself for the past year and a half now - anxiously awaiting the arrival of this release and making sure that I won't suffer that same sense of utter shock which I had experienced during the first listen to 'blemish'. :) I consider myself now officially 'ready' - so c'mon SamadhiSound...let's have at it!

Baht sod what Sylvian and his management company think of these boards. You were only passing on information that you had received in good faith and your motives were bourne out of your love of his music and the excitement of the impending release. It the information is slightly flawed i for one will not attempt to bring you to task. We are bloody mushrooms and Samadhi are keeping us in the dark. Everyone on this board are true followers of Sylvian and whilst i do love his artistic integrity and his dedication to every release i personally believe we are somewhat deprived of a lot of aspects of what fans of other bands get. Would i change anything ? Probably not but i would like for us to be kept more up to date. We are little flowers and Samadhi needs to water us.

Thanks for info baht, spoken like a true fan. Glad to see Opium/Samadhi protecting their output in some way after fiasco last time. They may be slow to give out info, but whatever they say will not satisfy some. Its true with other artists you probably get more, but thats just not the way with DS.
No one hear has heard manafon and perhaps this time we should support DS and at least ignore claims or inferences that anyone has, prior to official release.

Not bothered to immerse myself in some of the known contributors - David always brings out somethingelse in them, though I cannot imagine Ewan Parker being anything, but himself and Yoshihide who I saw in concert few months ago involves himself in many different musics. Not sure what you mean baht by being ready now for this release, wouldn't the opposite approach be more thrilling? Likewise, unconcerned if it is liked or not, but it does sound like a really promising work.

Hmm..without wonderful forums and fansites like this...set up by very well intentioned fans like Silver moon, who keep us other fans happy in between releases and offer a platform for us to share our thoughts and keep our interest alive, there might not such a strong fan base to listen to and buy the work, so Sylvian and his management should be a little less condescending and get off their high horse and be grateful to people like Silvermoon! Seeing as Sylvian is relying on the internet these days to sell his work these days since losing his contract with Virgin, I think p'raps he should be a little more careful to not 'bite the hand that feeds'...or maybe he's so rich he doesn't need to care! I'll get off my soapbox now!

Its not true that forums are embaressing or not liked this has never been said.
without forums like this and with no comments and so. there wouldnt be no samadhisound.
waiting is .waiting thats a paticent thing.
Since the indigenous love is paticent did subfamily limit a beatific ... There was perfectly a love is paticent for smaller mother in the dull structure.

and for silvermoon your dedication is also appreciated.

how can the members know who reads the forun in internet and an internet address is not always a internet address. why should we give price to who we actually are,?

Can you substantiate this for us? I find such a blanket statement very hard to believe.
