Festivals

Anyone going to any festivals this summer (or, for those in the Southern hemisphere, did anyone go to any festivals last summer?)

If so, tell us all about them.

(I'm not going to any but rally wish I could go to WOMAD  and I'll probably be able to hear T4 from my back garden, whether I want to or not)

I have the FIB very near but I never go. This year doesn't sound too appealing anyway.

I just came from the Sonar festival in Barcelona this last weekend. It was my first time in this one, and I have to say I really enjoyed it.
I think this is going to be the only festival this summer since I don't have much money and I can't find a job for this summer :?

I really miss the Benicassim festival. I went for five years (2002-2006) , but last year I couldn't go because I was working, and this year I agree with Isa, the line up is not very appealing.

I was wondering who's comming to the Eclectic festival this year, but nothing announced yet. I saw Pet Shop Boys two years ago in it and it's great because it's free, heee.

This year I will just go to the Valencia Jazz Festival to see Matt Bianco (blast from the past) and Return to Forever. Would see more gigs but I'll be in the UK seeing Duran Duran. And I don't have more cash to spend in gigs, LOL!

Good grief, are Matt Bianco still going?! Were they the lot with the Polish singer that did "Get Up, Get Out of Your Lazy Bed"?

Yep, Basia was her name. Sadly she's not with them anymore, she was back for the latest record after lots of years going solo, but she's gone again. Pity because her voice is amazing and she makes a great mixture of pop/jazz/brasilian grooves that I love. Anyway, even without her sure it will be a fun gig!

Yes, I remember her voice being great. Too bad she's gone again. Hope you enjoy it, anyway.

Of course Matt Bianco were famous for being guests on a Saturday morning kids' show over here. The presenters were taking calls live on air and someone rang up to say that they were 'a bunch of w*****s'...

I was so innocent at the time that I relayed the story to my grandmother and stepgrandfather without realising the implications. My mum did a bit of this :smt021 in return...

I've not been to a festival except the Manchester one, Move, a few years ago. Usually I'm too picky to consider it worth spending the money to see bands I don't like!

Mel, yes, a pity that she's gone now, but she will soon have a solo album :)
