Pandora.com

I just discovered Pandora.com - it's internet radio based on the The Music Genome Project

I entered "David Sylvian" and it began playing similar songs (apparently based on over 400 different musical parameters per song) - I was surprised to hear some excellent music by the likes of Peter Gabriel, The Blue Nile, Thom Yorke, etc.

Very interesting: www.pandora.com

Yes----Pandora is very cool. You can literally make a station of your favorite band(s).

I sort of stopped listening to it a while back as I feared it would meet the fate of all the other internet radio sites that were to be getting the axe. Glad to see it is still available.

So, anyone have any update on that internet radio situation? Seems like it ended up being nothing at all.

I discovered Pandora.com by reading an article in Electronic Musician magazine on Tim Westergren, founder of Pandora.

He mentioned the licensing structure of internet radio versus terrestrial and satellite radio, and how the proposed numbers for internet radio would put Pandora.com out of business.

However, apparently there was a huge backlash about the fees and thousands of people protested, with many complaining to congressmen other government officials. The result was that the entire situation is being reconsidered, and Westergren says that he is "cautiously optimistic" about the outcome

Ooh, I hope everything turns out okay, I could NOT live without my PANDORA radio.

I have literally discovered more than 50% of my favorite bands from listening to Pandora.

Without Pandora, I would never have found out about JAPAN.

I used to love Pandora. It's the place where I discovered Japan, by hearing Quiet Life. :) Too bad it only works in the US now...
