Talk about anything David Sylvian related.

Postby natsume on Wed Oct 24, 2007 6:20 pm

OK, Madrid was over hours ago. I am extremely curious to hear reports of the shows after the cancelations. Some of you japansylvian kids were at the Madrid show, how was it?

(I know it is after 1 in the morning, as I write...tomorrow, let us know!)

Ok!!! It's 2 am in the morning but I'm so excited I can't sleep soooo
here's my report!!!

Well, first I met Eric and Isa (sisterlondon) at Sol, two hours before the show. Then two friends of Isa came with us. We have such a great time then. We had some drinks and some "tapas" and then go straight to the venue.
Well, right in the venue we met Bridget, the italian girl of the ginger cookies (what was her name, for god's sake??? I'd loved to see you again!!) and Chris. It was absolutely great to have the oportunity to meet you all, really.

Here's the setlist:

Wonderful World
It'll never happen again
World citizen/I won't be dissapointed
The Day the Earth Stole Heaven
Ride
Playground Martyrs/Transit
A fire in the Forest/Ghosts
Snow Borne Sorrow
Mother & Child
Jean the Birdman
Sugarfuel
Brilliant Trees/Before the bulfight
The Librarian
---------
Every Colour You Are

No Wanderlust this time  But, for the rest, the show was amazing. His voice was incredible, as always. They did some changes on Playground Martyrs arrangement that made it sound even better. He sung Ghosts amazingly. I miss Atom & Cell, but I loved Jean The Birdman, it has such a great feeling!!!
There wasn't any sax player this time (there wasn't any at Reggio either, so I've not seen any of them!!!).
And, for the rest, Ride, Sugarfuel, A Fire in the Forest/Ghosts and Snow Borne Sorrow were highlights for me.

The atmosphere was great. They all looked fine and very relaxed. The venue was full of people, almost sold out, which, I have to say , was a really nice surprise for me :-) Although people got a bit dissapointed when they didn't come again on stage after Every Colour You Are.

After the show, we wait at the door until Keith came out and he, as kind as always, took ALL our tourbooks and cd's and posters and brought them inside so David and Steve could sing them all. Then, he brought everything outside and kept talking with us. But, we still waited for David and Steve to come out, and they finally did and some of us could take some pictures with them. I have to say I just couldn't, cause when I saw them my mind just...blocked out!!! The only thing I could do was walk after him...LOL They both looked soooo great and were so nice to everybody.... I'm just...happy!!! He was so close to me, and although I couldn't say anything to him, I could look to his beautiful face and think..."Oh my God, that's David Sylvian!!!!"

Eric, Isa and I went out for a few drinks after the show too.

Well, so the european tour is done now. I have to say I feel really happy and privileged for having the chance of being a part of this tour. Some of the greatest experiences of my life had happened through it and their reminder will stay with me forever. After the show, Chris told Keith : "You made us meet such nice people and visit such beautiful places." And, I couldn't agree more with her. I'd love to see you all again, no matter when. And, I thank everybody for everything. As this tour said : The World is Everything.

Okay, I uploaded the good pics already :) They are at my album. Will ponder later if the blur of the pics of the gig are even worth posting!

It was great meeting everyone yesterday! Bridget, Poisoned, The Analog Kid, Cris, Artemis... and so many others! :D Awesome gig and great time seeing everyone!

Pleaaaaaase, has someone a pic of Keth carrying the pile of tour books? That was just so funny! That man deserves a sainthood!

And Steve was grateful when I told him I loved Slope. David was nice, shook my hand and I just wished him a good trip to Asia and let him go :)

Running to work now!

*still very excited* :D

What a great evening again (and a short night )!!!

Chrissy, Sisterlondon, Poisoned, The Analog Kid, thank you so much for a beautiful evening!

I heard you and Steve talking about Slope, yes, he liked hearing that!

I'm so happy that I got two tourbooks signed for my friends and a belated bdcard for someone else that I really care about.

Please Sisterlondon post your pics, I only have two that are quite okay. Great that you caught David for a picture!

What can I say add to the reports posted here - well mainly that the sound and performance were MUCH better than in Amsterdam and I absolutely loved this one - awesome; the sax player wasn't really missed and maybe even it provided for some more space from Watanabe too who was much more present (and audible) than in Amsterdam. David's voice was as good as ever - but he did have to wipe his nose after every song ... After the show Watanabe said he now suffered from a bad cold and used that as a reason not to mingle with fans but to head straight to the hotel

I was great meeting everyone before and after the show - really cool; was happy to be able to 'shoot' Isa (Sisterlondon) with Steven and David and thank god I wasn't so nervous as to mess up the pics - I am sure had a blown that photo oppty with David I would have had a lot to answer for ;)

I felt for Bridget and her really short night - but i guess that will be over soon :) Indeed Keith was just the best! After he got all the stuff signed by David and Steve and everyone was thanking him profusely and telling him he was the best I suggested to him this would be a good moment for him to get a pre-order (and pre payment) going for a solo CD ...he agreed ;)

super night anyway!

cheers

Eric

I am so happy for all of you who were at the Madrid concert! :D It sounds like a truly perfect time was had by all...getting to meet up with everyone else must have been so fabulous! :-D

Isa, I told you this at MySpace, but I will say it again: your photos are so amazing (Eric, you did great!! :D )! The new one with Steve is so beautiful, but honestly, that one of you and David is absolutely awesome.

Thanks so much for sharing...so glad it was such a brilliant night! :D

Perhaps not the right thread but it is sort of in connection of the tour.

I found a radio interview made by the Swedish Radio in Stockholm. The radio person talks of Sylvians music as a shark fin in a beautiful lagoon (!?). The woman who interviews him calls his music honest and uncompromising. She finds his voice magical and has never heard anything like it. Well, I am not going to disagree on that one.

http://www.sr.se/webbradio/webbradio.asp?type=latestbroadcast&Id=2347&BroadcastDate=&IsBlock=1
(The Sylvian part is about 16 minutes into the programme. The programme will be available for about a month.)

Bridget woman, I wonder how you are now! You really had a short night indeed! But guess that we all slept very little with the emotions! (and the drinks! :P *waves to Poisoned and Eric*)

Most of the best pics are posted. Will check the rest tomorrow, but don't think they will be nice enough!

Bridget wrote:I heard you and Steve talking about Slope, yes, he liked hearing that!

Yes he did! He even shook my hand and dunno how he didn't grab mine okay and he said "not right, let's do it again" LMAO! Steve is real cool! And when I checked David had signed my copy of Slope too. Thanks to Saint Keith I got quite a few things signed! Including my new Weatherbox, courtesy of Eric! ;)

Thanks for the comments godsinthesilences and arieleven! It was a great time indeed! :D And I am very happy how David looks in the pic and that he's even smiling a bit! He looked better to me yesterday than in London. Maybe because he was smiling a lot more!

It was weird not having a sax player but the sound was indeed great, like Eric said, so we were all happy (well, except for the lack of Wanderlust!)

Haha! Yeah, you so know me ;) But nope, you got the pics great! Thankies Eric!!! :D

Great great times... wish I could do it all over again!
