Heart, now I am not sure if he said angry or annoyed... but you get the idea. I just meant to mention that he knows how the US fans feel and seems that he got news of how fans feel too.

Not sure if any of them read this forum, but I can tell you that an awful lot of people wrote to Richard Chadwick on the matter (including myself, I think I was the first one to break the news of the lack of US dates), so obviously there was direct feedback from him.
Then of course there is the Samadhi profile on MySpace, I know that David is aware of things that get posted there.

I'm not going to go back into all the arguments as to why and why not, it's a bit of a dead horse at this point.
What I'm going to say is that everyone should remember that this is a public forum and people should exercise a little fore-thought and discretion and good judgement before they post things that could be incendiary in nature.
I'm not saying we should censor ourselves in what we truly believe and feel passionate about, it's just that there are often better ways of getting one's point across without being mean spirited!

OK, I'm starting to ramble!
(This like anything, anyone has to say is just a personal point of view!)

Though to be fair Chris, it is easier for you to be gracious considering you will be seeing him for yourself.
Unfortunately not everyone has the means to get to Europe, or Asia for that matter, not that I am having a go at you, honest guv.

That said there is no need for anything insulting, though nothing wrong with constructive criticism.

I add myself to the being respectful in the forums (and outside too!) Even if I can ramble a bit sometimes I try to be keep the private stuff out of my posts and even more the negativity (like about Yuka, that was mentioned before) because it makes no sense. It's not my life, it's theirs and I just want them to be happy and make awesome songs ;)

BTW, posted my pics. The ones of the gig are awful :( Well, they are on the David and Steve sections and also mine with Steve is at my gallery (in case anyone wants to see my silly face!)

That's a fair enough comment, and I do understand believe me!
I was very bummed when I couldn't see him play with Fripp on the Italian tour and the Japanese dates too...I also couldn't swing the initial E&N tour, thankfully he did play here in the States and I was able to catch a couple of shows...But I didn't know that at the time and I didn't throw a public wobbler about it!

Here, now I'm going back to a subject I said I wasn't!

My point was simply aimed at encouraging civility in public forums...

It seems the part of my comment that was meant as a bad joke has caused a bit of a stir - sorry about that - it was bad, and it was a joke.

To make a few thought out and heartfelt comments:

Thanks to the generosity of a friend, I will very gratefully be receiving a copy of the tour brochure. And thanks to the generosity of people sharing their comments, photos, recordings, etc., I feel I'm sort of participating in the experience.

BTW, the comments about why they aren't touring in the US got to them, as I mentioned that some tour books I got were for friends there and he said, "so probably your friends are angry that we aren't touring there" (that was said with the classic eyebrow from him, heeee!) We also chatted about his failed gig in February for Kinoapparatom (he signed my cd) and he said "Believe me, I was as much disappointed as you were for not going there"

Just a question----who was the "he"? Steve? or David? I am assuming you mean Steve as you mentioned David only had time for a signature and no pics, etc and took off to the bus.

As for whether or not they read this forum or not, that is there perogative, just as much as it is SilverMoon's perogative to run this website, of course considering what is proper within the parameters, and she does that very well!!

I don't speak out about Yuka at all---she really has no effect on my everyday life, nor do any of the spouses/significant others, really. The artists themselves---in this case, Japan/David/Steve/Mick/Richard are an effect on my everyday life because Music is my life and they are influencing my life whether it is one second of my day or an entire hour, or whatever.

If there is an issue I think requires attention or some further thought or consideration on their part I say so. After all, if they do indeed read here, It will become clear eventually what my opinion of certain subject(s) is/are.

I will say this though---If they indeed are aware, then I suspect there will possibly be some kind of statement released when they get a break from the tour. :-D

also agree with the crazy-fan criticism of Yuka - always felt slightly jealous of anyone who could be so inspiriational to an artist - she was - maybe still is - his muse - she influenced so much in terms of his direction we can only be grateful to her - all of which he has widely and very generously acknowledged...Sylvian's work is so influenced by the women he has known - all hail to him! Who knows what/who is to come!

Here's another press review - less scathing than the Times, but still not exactly a rave notice:

There have been a couple of less than brilliant reviews printed about the DS concerts... heck, I don't take too much stock in them though. If you like the music that is all the matters, and as for the musician's performances well ... I always subscribe to the belief that on any given night, they are giving the best they can that night.

I must have missed something in the Yuka thread? (I dont visit here everyday... most of this week have been sick - I picked up little niece and nephew bugs - if any little person insists on giving you a hug, just check out what else they may be giving you.... they are wonderful though...) Anyway, I figure with any relationship the only people who know truely anything about it, are the two involved. Anything else is just guess work.

Like most bands and musicians I listen to, I stick with the music, (and sometimes the visual aspect helps too! ), afterall, that will be their lasting legacy, not gossip and innuendo.

hhmmm if i want to have a public wobbler over the fact he has opted not to tour the usa... well ... i will. LOL WWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAA
WWWWWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

But, in all honesty it isn't effecting my life in a bad or good way. I mean sure i'd LOVE LOVE LOVE to have the opportunity to see him perform live however my life will not come to an end if I don't.

I know it would be a spiritual... perhaps even religious experience for me. And, I do hope one day I have the pleasure.

Until then .... life goes on :-)

Not angry, but disappointed. Perhaps David should release a new version of an old song - World Citizen (they will be disappointed) - to commemorate this tour.

Yup that is how i feel too.... disappointed....

That makes at least three of us here, ha. Oh well...but as gods (I think it was you :-) ) says later on, life goes on. (Or, as Steve says on his forthcoming album, life moves on. :) )

I too am experiencing the blessing of friends' incredible generosity here and while I was initially very disappointed about not getting to attend any concerts overseas after all, I have been feeling all along that I have been there in spirit in any case, largely in part to people sharing their thoughts about the shows, photos, etc. as heartofdavid said. Thanks for that, everyone!
