Yep---just like my sources told me erictak. In fact, they mention even more expenses.

The US is nowhere near perfect, but Neil Finn doesn't mind. yeah, he could sit at home in New Zealand and watch the money roll over, but he comes here, maybe sells out the big cities, but probably not all. Gotta love him for it---that is one reason why I have been a fan of his for 26 years now.

And Big Country---they may or may not make it here, but at least they consider it, gotta love them for that too.

well i guess mr Finn *might* be in better financial position to take his chances on that one - more so than DS who has not sold any records in huge quantities for the past 15 or so yrs I am guessing (but of course have no real clue as to that one)

Also I'd like to add... since when does DS actually care about his fans? I don't get the impression he does anything to help his fan base out. But, I could be wrong.

I would call his founding of Samadhi Sound to be exactly that. I would call the limited release of Naoshima exactly that. I would call this tour almost overcompensation, for Sylvian, in caring for his fan base.

Samadhi Sound had to do with him not us. He wanted to create a situation where he could make the music he wanted with musicians he wanted... when he wanted without the big bad industry getting into it.
I agree Naoshima was probably put out there for more people to hear since it received great critical reviews.
However.. the tour... that is him caring for SOME of his fan base.... not all.

Lets be honest here... we know david is happy with his anonymity and a less high profile stature in the music industry. That is perfectly fine with me.
But, I am entitled to my feelings on being "snubbed" during this tour. I still truly hold out hope that he has a change of heart and does add a few shows in the USA.
And, my love of his music and him personally has not changed at all. I just feel very sad he isn't playing here for us U.S. fans to get an opportunity to enjoy as well.

Plus he is also not playing Africa, South-America, Canada and loads of other places; this is basically a tour of Europe, and not playing all countries there either, Russia (only Moscow though - so he could just do one date in his home town for the us fans?) and Japan (only three dates, the same as Holland). In the past his tours have always been great for him (ie selling out) in England, Holland and Italy. Japan is probably also good to him in that respect.
Havind said that, the last time I checked the Holland dates weren't sold out yet - the other times I went they were about this time. Strange...

true - was expecting them to sell out too - even if all three are rather large venues. But the ticket prices here are DOUBLE of the ones in Madrid and at EUR 50 incl all costs could be prohibitive! Also i have seen little or ne mention in the mdia of this gig!

I think there is a little chance he'll do the us, thinnk about E&N 2001/2002
or FITF 2003 (europe) / 2004 (russia and asia).

Very little mention - small ads in Mojo, Uncut, I think in Classic Rock, a very small article in Wire - hope at least one of these publications have an article/interview with him (and the band) sometime soon. Probably on the regular readers of Wire have any interest in him, to be honest.

I am still praying he will reconsider and do even just a few shows in the U.S. Nothing major .... perhaps NYC and LA or San Fran. Perhaps Chicago..... Just something.... a bone... throw us a bone is all i'm asking. LOL

I think only WXRT made mention of the show; they still play "God's Monkey" every once in a while. And WNUA on a rare late night show will play "Orpheus" or "Silver Moon." Outside of those two stations, none of the Chicago stations have every played his solo stuff, I don't think. Some of the college stations used to but they've all gone to h*ll nowadays.

I wonder what part of the tour Theo Travis will be in the band - esp as he has a tour upcoming with Soft Machine Legacy - meaning he would leave after Amsterdam at the latest ( but could be ealier) and could be back around the Madrid gig - and of course if there is someone subbing for him ...

btw the dates of Soft Machine Lgacy I can totally recommend too!
