From the yahoo groups, the song played from Steve's album is called "Playground Martyrs."

And I see the pics have started appearing.

Set List

"Wow. What a show.

No time for a proper review, but none of the the set list postings I've seen
have been
100% accurate, in my opinion. Here's what was played last night, in order:

Wonderful World
It'll Never Happen Again
Medley: World Citizen/I Won't Be Disappointed/World Citizen
The Day The Earth Stole Heaven
Ride
Medley: Playground Martyrs (from Steve Jansen's forthcoming album)/Transit
Medley: A Fire in the Forest/Ghosts
Snow Borne Sorrow
Mother and Child
Waterfront
Atom and Cell
Sugar Fuel
Medley: Brilliant Trees/Before the Bullfight/Nostalgia/Before the Bullfight
The Librarian

Encore 1:
Medley: Every Colour You Are/Riverman/Every Colour You Are

Encore 2:
Wanderlust

really looking forward to the shows even more now!

hope Theo Travis stays on board for the whole tour - wonderful player - though I wonder if it is only clarinet he plays or also some flute and saxophone!

Secondly, I cannot fathom why a throwaway piece like World Citizen would ever make it onto the setlist. As the generally agreed lowlight of his last tour this should have been permanently ditched. Even DS himself acknowledged it as being "artless" so it really doesn't fit, especially as an encore which I feel should always be a song of really high quality.

Personally, I don't think David does "throwaway" songs at all, least not of all World Citizen, which I find to be quite poignant and moving.
Without wishing to be argumentative, I don't seem to recall there ever being a general consensus that World Citizen was a "lowlight" either.
David has very high standards and he would never include material that he felt was sub standard.

I agree with that assessment ... thank you for expressing it MoodyB

Yes, I feel the same way and I'm sure many of us do. I was feeling better about not being able to take my trip, but I seem to have taken ten giant steps backwards, ha. :{ Oh well....thanks to everyone for sharing show details, photos, etc.! It sounds as is if the tour is off to a great start and that's fabulous! :-)

Bridget wrote:There is a tourbook with a lot of David's pictures in it. T-shirts with the tourlogo on it in black, white and green if I'm correct. 300 kroner for the t-shirt must be around 35 euro's. I heard someone say there was a cd in the tourbook, he also had this black plastic bag with the tourlogo on it.

I will get back to you on sunday evening when I'm home if there's anything I forgot. I want to thank my parents for giving this holiday to me and want to thank David and his band for giving me the most wonderful night in my life so far. I just can't forget this smile...

It's raining a bit outside but in my heart the sun is shining.
Goodbye, hugs to you all.

Thank you so much, Britt, for the lovely detailed review of opening night! It sounds as fantastic as I knew it would be. I am having so many regrets right now about having to cancel my plans and miss those concerts, you have no idea...but life goes on I guess.

I hope I will at least be able to get one of those tour programs! That sounds like a must-have! :-)

Bridget---job well done on that account of your night with David (um, don't THAT sound yummy---lol)
Well , you know what I mean :-D

The details that you gave are exactly what I was looking for---perfect!!

Glad to hear he is smiling many smiles plural-----he looks handsome when he does that and should definitely do it more often.

David nervous? Now THAT is a first for him!!!

And Steve sounds like he is just being his same adorable self---good!!

Gods, Ariel, Prog----I know what you are feeling, you know I do, but I am just not going to let this get me down anymore.

I just pray and beg and plead with all of you lucky folks going to the shows to post your reviews, pics no matter how horrible, videos no matter how horrible, because I just have to see this and experience it the best way I can---through all of you!!!!

If you would do that I will be eternally grateful.

You're right, Krausy. I just need a bit more time to get over the disappointment, I guess (and to grouse again about how sometimes it really does suck to have to be a responsible adult, lol).

I am with you all the way re: humble requests for show reviews, photos, videos, any sort of tour info to be posted here!! I can't wait to see and hear about everything -- many thanks! :D

I don't know if anyone posted these reviews (I don't want to read this thread really since I am going to Copenhagen tonigt), they are only relevant to Scandinavians:

http://www.aftonbladet.se/nojesliv/musi ... e732752.ab

(positive review, Sylvian get 4 out of 5, the crowd is great apparently, one picture)

http://www.svd.se/dynamiskt/rec_konsert ... 038076.asp

(4 out of 6, one picture, reviewer like the show, but thought Sylvian was playing it a bit too safe)

I can't believe I am going tonight. haven't been this excited since.....I don't know when.
