Here is a blast from the past ... Moonlight Shadow

Postby Lady Arcadia on Sat Sep 01, 2007 6:00 am

Was just going through my old record collection - yes I still have a rather large vinyl collection - anyway, I came across a wonderful record - Crisis by Mike Oldfield. It features the wonderful single - Moonlight Shadow, talk about a trip down memory lane!

Searched on You Tube and found the link for the video. Watch and enjoy!!

It is a wonderful piece of work, - they made great videos back then....

Yeah this was a great song and I remember that video well. Maggie Reilly was a great vocalist with several good solo albums to boot, apart from the lovely collaborations she did with Oldfield.
Trust the proggrl.

I was a huge fan of Mike Oldfield in the Crises times (well, as much as one can be with taped LPs from older friends!) I loved that album and the following one (was it Voyager?), but with the time I think he started to be too repetitive and lost interest.

It was this song that I discovered Maggie Reilly. Beautiful voice. Have got all her solo CDs, most are really good.

As for Mike Oldfield, I have Crisis and Tubular Bells. I did have more, but they disappeared. (the joys of shifting houses I suppose). Anyway, SisterLondon, you are right he did start to get repetitive, I haven't bought any of his more recent work.

But I do like Crisis. :D

I remember Tubular Bells being the album everyone had to have when The Exorcist came out. I lost interest in Oldfield after his second album, Hergest Ridge - not for any particular reason, just wasn't that much into instrumental music (I was only 14 when it was released). I have heard this song before, and like it; there's a nice cover version of it by Annie Haslam on one her records but I prefer the original.

He's aged well - he's 54 now. I noticed this book at Amazon - I think he looks good.

Have no clue. I know nothing about him, really. I went on Amazon because I couldn't recall the name of his second album. :P And how lazy is that, when my albums are right behind me, lol. Of course, they aren't in any order, not since I started sorting them and changing the protective sleeves - that process has left them in a gigantic mess - but at least it matches all my other messes!

I have one other record by him, a picture sleeve 7-inch single, Blue Peter - which I cannot type without laughing.
