On his website
Kyoichiro Kawamoto mentions: "Influences : Ryuichi Sakamoto, David Sylvian, Haruki Murakami, Natsuki Ikezawa". A couple of years ago I found his music on
CDBaby by searching for "sounds like David Sylvian". Especially his first solo-album "Sekala Niskala", with its Bali-inspired music, is beautiful. Reminds me of the ethnic influences the Japanese band Kenso uses in their music. And yes, the sound of Japan's "Tin Drum" and Sylvian's work with Sakamoto is certainly there.
