IF ONLY Natasha ... Now that's a really good dream! If they did manage to come to some arrangement and tour, where should they go? and what would the set list be? Hmmm ... *Astronaut drifts off in to dreamland again ...* :smt015

On a serious note I'm really glad that Japan are not on the Here and Now concert bandwagon, for example.

But, back in dreamland... I know a really intimate venue in Greater Manchester they could play in. Bet you know another in Cambridge too :D

My word Natasha! Are you being a saucy young lady! What could you be suggesting? LOL! I know somewhere very intimate where they could play but .... OK. Enough of this ...

I completely agree with you re: the old 80's revival bandwagon that a lot of musicians seems to be doing lately, ABC and Spandau Ballet being amoungst the culprits, so glad Japan don't need to travel that particular pathway, and the ex members remain firmly in the present creating new music, developing and growing all the time. Amen to that.

Sorry this is a little bit off topic! Must get back to dreamland now ....

Well, we are in dreamland Sonic

Yes, Natasha, I think you stand more chance of finding Mr Edwards than most of us do of ever seeing our bands made reality (including the Japan reunion, sadly).

This is fantasy city - you can have Lord Lucan and Shergar on backing vocals, if you so desire)

the mark hollis/steve jansen thing is of course brilliant, because hollis is amazing and jansen not too bad either, but mr hollis is a bit of a authoritarian (a bit harsh, i admit) isn't he?

Ok...

David Sylvian on vocals and keyboards and synths
Nick Rhodes on keyboards and synths

and that's pretty much it. Just wait to see what would come out of that

Do you know his work? Don't you think his quiet soundscapes would work nicely in this arrangement?

Tin Bird:
my original post had these artists... I guess I was the only one who wanted David without vocals/lyrics...
David (obviously) on vocal tints and electronics
Arve Henriksen on trumpet and treatments
Helge Sten (a.k.a. Deathprod) on Audio Virus (which is electronics)
Francisco Lopez: environmental recordings
Bernhard Guenter: Cellotar improv
Autechre: clickety-click
Production and mix: Steven Wilson and Bass Communion

I really like Bernhard's stuff on 'For Morton Feldman' and 'A Rainy Koran Verse'. Actually both would be in my top 25 of albums of all time...

Ha! How about that! I should have gone back to the beginning of the thread. I couldn't agree with you more about gunter. His work is so perfect in every way. Sensual, sublime, textural, tangible, and full of solitude. his music is like a recording of a snowflake falling (literally). for me it's "Brown, Blue, Brown on Blue (for Mark Rothko). Just one of the most beautiful albums I've ever heard. Would be in my top 25 as well.
