Adolescent Sex- Alternate song...

Postby Silver Moon on Tue Aug 08, 2006 10:04 am

Hey,

I was wondering if anyone out there knows where I can get a good recording of the Adolescent Sex version that was on the alternate video. I LOVE that version! Is is downloadable, or available on CD or vinyl?

Thanks,
-K-

My First With Adolsecent Sex

Postby sexandpolitics on Wed Aug 09, 2006 12:54 pm

The first time I heard anything off of Adolescent Sex, I had downloaded the 'alternate' version of the song Adolescent Sex. I was very surprised when I got around to buying the album, because the album version is way more tame! I love the videos for those songs because it is so sweet to see David get right up next to Mick and sort of swagger and sway while he's singing. I also love it because David rolls his eyes a lot=so sexy. Adolescent Sex and Performance are my favorites off the album--because they are blast to sing. Just imagine if all of Japan's early work was on karaoke?!!?! What a challenge to get all of Sylvian's inflections just right. Awl, awl, awl....

Television is special, because Sylvian swears (which is so funny to hear) and because lyrically-it's maybe the only song where he is actually 'pissed'. The first time I heard it, however, the intro frightened me. But that is TV in a nutshell.

The Streisand cover cracks me up-I wish so much that I could listen to their cover of 'I Shot The Sheriff'. Anybody know where to get a copy?

I have no idea, but I would love to hear that too!!!!!!

I really dig all of their early stuff, and all the later work and solo too.

Before my computer crashed, I was working on a karaoke version of the song Quiet Life. :-D I was almost done, too, so it was sad to have lost it. It was a right pain in the arse, though, trying to make the words fly in at the same time as the singing.

I love singing along to Television, preferrably during a traffic jam. Loudly.

I think I heard the alternate version to Adolescent Sex first, too. It's more raw and I like it a bit better.

I was listening to Oil on Canvas today on my way to work----it really calms me down, except the part on Swing at the end when David's voice goes waaaay lowwwwww, then I squeal with delight!!!!!! :-D

All right, nevermind that. Circular reasoning.
