Yep, I dont really know why I said that! D'OH!!!

------------

Alien - good choice Rob - it would definitely be in my top 5, without a doubt.

Got a little frisson of excitement yesterday and I KNOW you guys will relate. On the cover of a magazine I saw an article advertised inside called 'The Art Of Parties' - and immediately wondered if the author had made a direct reference to Japan...hehehe.

A simple choice for me; Ghosts, although I now prefer the 2000 vocal version. This song turned me on to Japan when it was first released, and opened my (then still quite young) ears to a broader range of music...

This is a near impossible choice, but I have to say My New Career. It touches my heart in a way that few songs ever do -- I can't really put it into words. It's just pure and tangible beauty to me.
These are years with a genius for living.

That is a tough one, indeed.

I'm going to have to say "Swing", though. It's the perfect rainy-day-drive song, and sort of other-worldly.

"Alien" would be a close second, along with the album version of "The art of parties".

Such interesting choices especially unexpected was Still life in mobile homes - I have always adored it but very few people ever mention it....

My answer I know it's cheating but (this is so hard) if I had a second choice it would be My New Career.

BUT

My favourite ONE ever ever ever is probably "The Art of Parties" Although it changes on an almost daily basis that is the one that is consistently up there...

Very tempted to say Nightporter or maybe Talking Islands in Africa...but the song that always gives me goosebumps is Sons of Pioneers. Steve's drumming is so hypnotic and David's vocal is sublime.
I had a grey Sons of Pioneers t-shirt when I was young...wore it until it disintegrated..
I found the way, by the sound of your voice.
