Are the remasters worth it?

Official releases, promos, bootlegs and memorabilia.

Oh dear....my poor bank balance.

yes, the bank account will just have to suffer because that is the daddy of them all---comes in a nice box, with a book and in some cases a cd of extras.................sweet!!!!!

Be sure to get THIS ONE as Virgin are no longer manufacturing it. The newest Tin Drum remaster is simply the single disc that was contained in this expanded version. The link above will take you to the Tin Drum that is basically a "mini box set". It has an alternate cover, a nice thick book of photos and a bonus disc with singles and b-sides of The Art Of Parties. The bonus disc uses photos of the band members that originally appeared on The Art Of Parties 12" single. You might want to hurry, as I'm not sure how many copies of this will continue to remain in stock.

I can't recommend this remastered/repackaged version enough!

*runs to Amazon.com*

Then I definitely need to buy that version now!
And I'm ordering from Amazon UK instead, look at this at amazon.com:

"Availability: Usually ships within 3 to 6 weeks. Ships from and sold by Amazon.com."

That's ridiculous...

Im currently listening to Tin Drum remastered on headphones. It's definitely worth it - you hear bloody EVERYTHING, every nuance, every note, every slight change of tone in David's voice.

I recommend buying it now.

RE-MASTERED JAPAN & SYLVIAN CD'S

Postby suki9533 on Sat Jun 03, 2006 6:37 am

From the comments posted here already it sounds like you have purchased the Virgin Re-Mastered Japan/ Sylvian CD's which were released in 2003. Thereafter in 2004 came the Hansa Re-Mastered CD's which had extra video tracks etc.

On 29 May 2006 EMI re-released the 2003 Remastered CD's at a low price; £6.99 (Tower Records). The difference is that these are all in standard Jewel Cases & not the digipaks already mentioned here. Furthermore they don't include the extra photo's/ pages etc. As a collector they are a must!

Gentlemen Take Polaroids: CDVR 2180
Tin Drum: CDVR 2209
Oil on Canvas: CDVR 2513
Rain Tree Crow: CDVR 2659

Brilliant Trees: CDVR-2290
Alchemy An Index of Possibilities: CDVR 23
Gone to Earth: CDVDLR 1
Secrets of the Beehiver: CDVR 2471

The Tin Drum CD does not include the bonus CD as with the 2003 Box Set. Oil on Canvas comes on 1 CD now instead of the 2 as with the 2003 Digipak

Hope this helps in your search when making a purchase

RE-MASTERED JAPAN & SYLVIAN CD'S

Postby suki9533 on Sat Jun 03, 2006 1:04 pm

Thanks for your reply. I made a typo error; the Internet Site I acquired my CD's from was not Tower Records but Townsend Records.

To purchase all 4 Japan 2006 Re-masters, copy & paste the following link

https://www.townsend-records.co.uk/prod ... Type=music

To purchase all 4 Sylvian 2006 Re-masters

https://www.townsend-records.co.uk/arti ... Type=music

You will also see on this site a list to purchase the 2003 Re-masters which includes the 'Oil on Canvas' 2-CD Set

Hope this helps.
