Greats news indeed. Thanks for the info.

It should get everyone on the board speculating. I do wonder just exactly what has he got in store for us this time.
I don't believe in God. But if i did, "Please God let us hear David singing again"

Very exciting! Great spot - thank you!!

Judging by the label mates, he isn't going back to pop land. Something makes me doubt he'll be singing, but here's hoping.

Thank you for the info :D

Its not a label I've come across before, but there are so many independents around. I'll certainly delve into their roster, which has lot of familiar names... and keep an eye for news on DS [tempted to drop them a mail to see what say]

"Please God let us hear David singing again"

Yeah, I'm up for this... I just hope this thread does not descend into the usual "I hate what he's been doing for the past twelve years" type of crap.

Lets have speculating without the whining :)

One would hope that Sylvian would get a different treatment than just the tin box. A bit samey on the visual front there... I have not heard of this label before either...lots of familiar names from the Erstwhile roster...etc. I do not foresee a "pop" style vocal record being on this label. I'm cool w a minimalistic/experimental soundscape-type thingy as long the as the dodgy poetry is banned.
This is cool news though for sure.

Yes, they do seem to be all live. I must admit I'm not a fan of live recordings, much preferring studio work for home listening. If all Confront's output is live stuff, then its more likely to be some sort of collaboration than anything truly solo, and certainly nothing song based.. just guessing of course.

I agree about the tins. At first they look cool, but as they are all the same its actually quite a boring concept. They do have a couple of Digipaks which look more interesting... nothing like Samadhisound's cool design work, which I will miss.

Just received the following from Confront Recordings:

'David's new CD for Confront Recordings is due for release in September, it is titled 'Playing The School House'.

Can anybody think of a live performance that would fit the description?

Thanks to those who posted about this release.

Thanks SomeAre and silentwings for sharing such information. I had been ignorant of this independent 'label' Confront. I think I'll check out the release by Butcher & Beins and the Bailey collaboration w/Fell. And attempt to get my hands on the one by Rowe.
A cursory search turned up a music venue / loft in NY called The SchoolHouse - but it appears that place has been closed for a number of years.
This is intriguing. Thanks again.

I've poked around trying all the search parameters I can think of, but nothing turns up relating to any public live performance in such a venue.. so who knows. If it is live, it does not mean there was an audience; of course it could have been a private gig of some sort. The title does suggest the possibility of a song based set to me, but what do I know :? ... nothing

Confront Recordings have now confirmed that this is NOT a live recording and that more information will be available nearer the release date in September.

Mark Wastell of the label describes the recording as a 'great piece' in a comment on his Facebook page.

Sounds intriguing, looking forward to it.
