Agata Pyzik: Tin Drum (new book in 33 1/3 series)

Talk about anything Japan-related.

Agata Pyzik: Tin Drum (new book in 33 1/3 series)

Postby Quiet Visitor on Tue Jul 30, 2019 1:18 pm

Just bought a book about the soundtrack of Twin Peaks in the famous 33 1/3 series and in the frontpiece I noticed a list of forthcoming titles including this one:

Agata Pyzik: Tin Drum

Apparently she was commissioned to write the book in 2015, with a release-date in 2017, but the latest date Bloomsbury gives now is May 2020.

I guess this book was "under your radar" since the first announcements 4 years ago, Paul.
It was nice to see someone suggested Pyzik to read Anthony Reynolds "Japan: A Foreign Place". Hopefully she did, but also Mick's "Japan & Self Existence".

I have a couple of other books in this series, including one on Nick Drake ("Pink Moon"), Eno ("Another Green World") and the album "Entroducing".

The book wasn't under my radar it's just that the publication was delayed and delayed. I talked to the author online about 3 years ago.

I noticed I used the wrong saying; I meant "on the radar" in the meaning of: it had your attention.

When you visit some of the sites that sell this book, like Amazon and Goodreads, you see it was released in May this year but currently unavailable. Amazon Japan [sic!] though lists the release-date on March 2022! https://www.amazon.co.jp/-/en/Agata-Pyzik/dp/1501322222
I wonder what's causing this delay over and over again.

One likely reason is the recent number of books on Japan or Sylvian, not least Yuka's "Like Planets" and the proposed follow-up volumes.

Could be, although the book on the early years captures quite another view on the band.
Maybe they wait until November 2021 when it's 40 years since the album was released.
