You're right Tin, he has done some wonderful one off's, i had forgotten about Earthbound, lovely lyrics with great vocals, Venice is another favourite of mine, Pop Song came on on my ipod today which made me think of it, totally timeless. BTW Did i see in a previous post that you have meniere's disease? If so hello from a fellow sufferer!

Yes, unfortunately...sorry to hear about yours, but hello nonetheless. Meniere's is a bear isn't it? How long have you had symptoms?

World Citizen another good one.

Wow two votes for Manafon in the top 10. Surprising! Also have to say Baht that it's a shock to me that any Sylvian fan would rate The First Day as their favorite. It is just so different from what I think would be considered David's true sound...Firepower and all that. I kind've liked Jean the Birdman and God's Monkey was tolerable but for me the rest of the album was completely unpalatable. I for one can't stand listening to Fripp go nuts rocking out the power chords....anyway...too each his/her own..just surprising to me that's all. Another shock was how low you rated Brilliant Trees and Tin Drum....I know there is room for all opinions and I am not saying anybody is wrong or right or whatever but I guess I thought that to all long time Sylvian Fans Brilliant Trees, Tin Drum, and Secrets of the Beehive were the stuff and that all of the other albums would work around them. Guess I was wrong....

I can't be bothered to do such a long list, so I thought I'd only do a "surprisingly best"/"surprisingly worst" type of thing, if only to shake up the proceedings a little.

pieces which don't do anything for me: Heartbeat, God's Monkey, Darkest Dreaming.
I can happily zone out much of the later vocal collabs, such as the ones he did for Readymade and LAND, or Did you know me now?.
underrated ones I find to be among his best: The Wooden Cross, Gone to Earth, Cafe Europa.
I also really love Zero Landmine the piano/vocal version.

I love Firepower. I wish Steven Wilson would remix the whole First Day album to bring it closer to the typical '70s rock sound, and make it more of a piece with the King Crimson albums of the period.
