Richard at IB 2014

From the newsletter Thomas Olsson from Isildurs Bane just sent out:

IB Expo 14 - November 29 - 19:30

Once more the IB Expo concert will be an historic show. We can present a unique line-up with musicians coming from art music, jazz, rock and whatnot to rehearse for a week and then put on a once only live performance. On top of that, we celebrate our 10th IB Expo. The line-up will be:
Richard Barbieri (Porcupine Tree, Japan)
Mel Collins (King Crimson, Camel)
Percy Jones (Brand X, Tunnels)
Pat Mastelotto (King Crimson, Mr Mister)
Liesbeth Lambrecht (Aranis)
Lisen Rylander Löwe (Midaircondo)
Mariane Vancampenhout
Qarin Wikström (Kostcirkeln, Sekten)
and of course IB!
You don’t want to miss this, it promises to be nothing short of stunning.

Thanks. I guess Ghosts is a difficult track to play live and they even made it harder with a large band. Brave, but not quite as lovely as the original (or the live-versions Japan did).

Here's a couple more links...like the first one a lot.

I don't think I've ever heard a cover of Ghosts that I like - mostly because the singing always sounds so wrong - always seems to end up sounding a bit lounge lizard like. Think it needs a certain kind of voice. And drums never seem to work either - even with David singing I was cringing at the version he did for his last tour.

Thanks again. Great atmospheric pieces. You know, I'm a big fan of Isildurs Bane and wish they would start recording again. A lot of the musicians on this stage are from this band, so you can imagine what I mean. I saw them live once and it was one of the most fascinating concerts I attended.

Cool! That second clip has Percy Jones on bass. Nice to see him next to Richard after he played on one of his albums.
