'The Other Side of Japan'

Postby lastgoldstar on Sun Jun 18, 2006 5:20 pm

I keep seeing this CD around Amazon and a few other places but for the life of me can't find a track listing! I'm fairly sure it's a compilation, does anyone have any information about it? Not that I need it but I do have an obsessive collector's urge to buy it anyway, it's really cheap.

It's a compilation of all their old stuff. It was the very next CD I had listened to after "Polaroids" (This was before the whole Japan/Sylvian obsession had begun) And I put this CD in, and heard this glam punk stuff, and was like "Nope! This isn't Japan! This must be something else." And took it out. I love the early stuff now, though! Here's the tracklisting:

1. Wish You Were Black
2. Television
3. The Unconventional
4. Transmission
5. Automatic Gun
6. Love is infctious
7. Sometimes I feel so low
8. The Tenant
9. In Vogue
10. Halloween
11. A Foreign Place (Not on any other albums!)
12. Don't Rain on My Parade

I just now noticed the extra song on this CD! I'm gonna have to pop it in and see what it is!

Yes, it's a compilation. Don't know exactly when it was released but it's a collection of songs from their three first albums.

Here's the track list:

Wish you were black
Television
The Unconventional
Transmission
Automatic Gun
Love is infectious
Sometimes I feel so low
The Tennant
In Vogue
Halloween
A foreign place
Don't rain on my parade

Hmmm, yes it does sound like a good car CD....I've never heard of 'A Foreign Place' before...(it's a recurring phrase isnt it though....the lyric 'a foreign town' somes up every now and again)...I wonder why it aint on any of the other albums - maybe it's one of those tracks that's only recently been unearthed....?

I just found "a Foreign Place" as the B-side of one of my recently acquired 7" singles from ebay, A-side is "Quiet Life"---I'll have to give this a listen; been busy up til now moving and decorating..............

If anyone finds a copy of that cd can you let me know, I tried Amazon last night, both US and UK and could not find it

Really? There are new and used copies here in the Amazon Marketplace ranging from $4-$16, but I know that some people aren't comfortable ordering from there. Though I order from the Marketplace all the time and never have problems.

I love A Foreign Place! It really sort of foreshadows the style of Tin Drum.

Yes but in return you get MUSIC! And that HAS to be a good thing. They get rich and we get spiritually and emotionally uplifted. Win-win. :D
