Yeah, there are a lot of members who haven't posted at all! I'd guess that only about 15-20 of us ever post, and maybe not even that much.

The same for me. I don't like that type of chats where people's attitude is like "Look-how-much-I-know" makes me a little bit sick, actually. I like our forum because it's friendly and nobody is going to make someone feel inferior just because he/she doesn't know that song or haven't listen to that band...

i belong to three yahoo groups.... sylvianforum (which isn't too bad), YMO... which i rarely understand anything being talked about in, and japanpioneers ( mostly when they start talking about the interior structures of music ... I am just LOST).
I think over at sylvian.net which is no longer there that some of the chat was just sooooo super pretentious. There were two particular posters who made everyone else feel ultra stupid... mostly on purpose too.

Maybe that's why it's no longer there-they all disappeared up their own butts. Shame though, I could have done with reading some of the super pretentious stuff for my own amusement.

the site no longer there was davidsylvian.net.... Other than the chat forum it was a brilliant site. Gerrett did a superb job of keeping it going for around 10 years. Was a terrific resource really.

Everyone who wants to dissect music remind me of the people who like to dissect art down to nothing... the post modern theory of deconstructionism. YAWN!!!! Art is for communication and inspiration.
I tend the think... and have since i was in art school, that art "critics" are mostly frustrated and unsuccessful artists.

Much agreed. Isn't the point of forums to have fun and meet other people with the same interests and NOT to be a snob about it?
