Talk about anything David Sylvian related.

I also wanted to put in my review of your book. I know I wrote you a message on myspace about it but I thought I'd put some words here as well.

The cover is a lovely image of david's hands playing guitar and there is a faux leather type look to the rest of the cover. The majority of the images are black and white. Chris has this wonderful way of blowing out the grain in images which gives them a gritty and soft quality. They have an undeniable moody feeling to them. From a photographic stand point I think some images are stronger than others. I don't particularly care for the images of other people on stage since it was a David Sylvian show. I would have preferred either a full stage shot that included them and that is all or perhaps a different way of editing those images into the book. I think this would have aided in the flow of the book as well. The other thing I would have wanted was a photo of Chris as most books do publish an author photo and it always ads a sense of personal quality to an endeavor. I would have also like to have the tour titles given on the seperation pages. I might have also put the colours ones seperated... like a starter and finisher of the chapter. They would act as end caps in that way.
Overall, the book is just amazing. The intimacy the photos have because of how Chris saw each event and his use of manipulating the quality of exposure is just gorgeous. I have so many favourite photos in this collection it would be difficult to select just one. I am, as Chris knows, very partial to David's namaste pose images.

Chris thank you so much for offering all of us this opportunity to share in your marvelous work... you have treated us to some incredibly lovely images and not taken advantage of the fact that you could have charged a great deal more for all your work.

Namaste to you my friend... and thank you.

Thank you for posting your thoughts!
I appreciate you taking the time to do so, and I certainly appreciate the very fair review, especially coming from a fellow photographer.
Having some constructive criticism is also useful, I will take all of this into consideration for the next book!
I had thought about doing a revision to this one, but I think that would be unfair to everyone who has already purchased a copy, not to mention that it would drive up the production cost also.

Thanks again my friend, many blessings to you!

Chris

Chris, my friend i would not be opposed to buying a revised copy of your book. I have done that many times in the past with favourite books of mine.
And, you should not underestimate your talent and what it is worth. You're a great photographer and have been so kind in sharing your work don't feel bad about raising the price of something that surely deserves it. P.S. do it before it gets too close to xmas so people can still get them as gifts in time for the holidays ;-).

Thank you...

Greetings to all,

Just a quick note to express my sincere gratitude to everyone for the many messages of support, encouragement, compliments
and indeed for actually purchasing my book!
My whole intent for publishing the book was simply to share the images with as many people as possible in a form that was of
good quality. While I initially fretted over the details of it all, the feedback I have been given, has made it all worthwhile.

Again, a humble thank you goes out to all of you in the online Sylvian fan base, especially Jeremy and Laura, your support and
generosity of spirit has been wonderful.

Best wishes,
Chris

Hello and happy new year!

I just took a look and to date, 38 copies have been purchased.
I am quite thrilled that anyone decided to purchase it! It's nice to know that my work is sitting in different locales around the world (although I don't no exactly where as I don't get that level of detail from the publisher).

I had thought about doing a small revision to the book, to add some other details, but I did feel at the end of the day that this might be unfair to people who had already bought a copy. Not to mention that it would increase costs.

I have though made some of the images available for purchase, from an 8x10 up to a 24x36 (20.3cm x 25.4 to 60.96cm x 91.44 ) which go for $17.45 to $52.45 unframed (14 Euros / 9 Pounds For the 8x10) if anyone is interested.

All the best,
Chris

Re: ON SALE NOW!!!!

Just a small update...

...I was notified last night that the book is now listed for sale on Amazon!
This is great news in that Amazon has such a huge presence.
The only downside is that they have raised the price of it by $9 (which I get no part of, lol).
Anyhoo, just thought I'd share that news!
If anyone here is an Amazon customer and wants to add a review to the site, I'd be most happy indeed
(assuming it's a positive review, lol!).

Best to all,
