I just read this on another group about the lady at the rome show... it actually sounds sort of funny... she apparently was yelling at and going after the flute player...LOL

"Went to the Rome gig last night, couldn't believe it, I had front row seats in the middle. Perfecto!
Drama ensued when a lady appeared (carrying a flute case) part way through the performance shouting off in Dave's direction. She was directed back to her seat and briefly continued to shout out in Italian.,However she returned, this time onto the stage
just a few feet from David again shouting, at we think the flute player.
Eventually, she was escorted off by a stagehand, taken back to her seat and marshalled by two burly bouncers for the rest of the concert. Dave ever the consumate professional ignored her throughout, and even cracked a priceless smile amid the commotion."

I drove down to Conegliano on Wednesday to see the show, it was amazing. Teatro Accademia was a small theatre but the ambience/acoustic was pretty good. The setlist was identical to the Reggio show.

I posted some pics here:

and a couple of videos from the show with my crappy camera:

Brilliant Trees/Before the Bullfight

I partically like the tour book with the CD sampler as well

Hiyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

I thought I start my new posting career :) here with something nice to share with you all.

Hope the downloads work propperly. These are mainly videos I took during the Glasgow show. I've been to 3 shows in the UK and really not a good critic because I am soooo awfully biased when it comes to David ...
I could just complain about these white shoes :D :D they are sooooo horribly 80's .... but I dont think this is a qualified contribution here :D !
But it was surprisingly very interesting for me to see how very different the audience can be in just one country.
So I am curious to see what awaits me next as I am about to head off for the 3 shows in Holland on Monday ...

David live 2007

Postby Craig on Sat Sep 29, 2007 3:17 pm

Right. Just to say ive got the MP3 downloads now from the Brussels gig and have put them on cd. I say that because ive been able to listen to the sound properly, having previously been disappointed live in Manchester. Now I know its partly because the band lacked a guitarist. The music really missed a guitarist. David just used his guitar as a prop most of the time (well he's not a lead guitarist is he). Ive listened again to the 2001 shows and the contrast is startling. I think had Virgin and not David not been paying for this we would have got one, i.e he has skimped on an essential. Personally, id have dropped Theo Travis gladly for a guitarist. No disrespect to Theo. Ideally, you would have had both. David on this tour seems to have got stuck between a rock and a hard place. A slowfire type performance with a band; less a lead guitar. It didnt work really, did it? The other thing was I noticed from listening again was the only time he let his vocals soar was in It'll Never happen again. Great version of this song. The annoying way he was coming in an off-beat way to songs ala Sinatra was dreadful. He absolutely murdered some of the old stuff. On a positive note Sugerfuel, Playground Martys/Transit were excellent as well as the previously mentioned song. Ride was also good.
Like waves without a sound, i'll never let you down...
Well you have on this tour David. I preferred the FITF tour by a distance and Blemish live is not my idea of a fun night out. However, The Heart knows better was great and when you add in The Other Side of Life, Blue Skinned Gods and Wasn't I Joe the evening was so much better. Ultimately, the musicianship was good on this tour but it was unbalanced rather than poor and so it sounded much less perfect than DS would have intended.
Im still a big fan and he is still my hero, always will be. I have to be honest though.

last night i listened to his reggio show on cd..... I have to say it was brilliant in the start.... seemed to almost wind down and get sleepy toward the end. Sort of like he was tired at that point and wasn't on his game.
I agree vocally he soars through It'll never happen again.

However.... if i were able to enjoy him ONCE live I'd have no complaints. And i'm not about to compare old concerts with now... we are all different people and change over time. The concert seemed more acoustic to me than an actual production on this go round. Almost less tightly controlled... perhaps he's easing up with age....

But thanks for the review... we all have differing opinions :-) and like you said no matter what he will always be our (your) hero!
