I'm a collector of LPs as well, there's something really exciting and humble about dropping that needle onto the disc and hearing that first few seconds of white noise and popping...it's just so neat. Before my time, but I still enjoy it!

I ended up giving it up with a large pile of other lps (what can I say---I was going through some weird "less is more" phase in the 90's--lol) but have since acquired another thanks to Ebay!!!

vinyl always sounds three dimensional to me, scratchy and crackly though it may be on old records. I still think of CD sound as two dimensional, and adding echo to the mix or boosting bass/treble doesn't help it any.
