Virginia Astley (Sakamoto and Sylvian LP)

Postby gokartmozart on Fri Sep 28, 2007 7:36 pm

Virginia Astley's Hope in a Darkened Heart 'is a great album. Wish I could find it down at my local CD shop... Instead, it is highlighted on this blog (of which I have copied below the opening intro). Anyone have it in vinyl? (an ex-gf had it back when it was new and taped on a cassette for me - how sweet she was!) :-)

"Nearly 20 years ago, Ms. Virginia Astley floated out on the wings of an angel and has been breaking my heart ever since with some of the most gorgeously ethereal records of my life. This is a fascinating, breathlessly beautiful album, co-produced by Ryuichi Sakamoto - who also plays keyboards – and probably best known for Virginia’s duet with David Sylvian on the opening cut, ‘Some Small Hope’..."

DS's solo lines strike me not a little like an Anglican hymn!

Here is the link, hope it lasts a while. There is an embedded player.

I don't have a copy of this record, but if no one has a copy they can copy for you... try this link... there are vinyl copies and even one on CD for sale, (a bit dear I thought but ...)

Many thanks I will give this album a listen.

If it is as good as the album I already own by Virginia Astley (From Gardens We Feel Secure), it should be excellent

If anyone is after any other Virginia Astley stuff, I can help out.

If you like "From Gardens..." you need to hear the Melt The Snow EP
