What does everyone do for sport?

Postby krausy on Tue May 23, 2006 1:25 pm

Well we all know David and the guys were not big on sport (that is one of the reasons they got together and did music), but are any of you into any sport in particular? Not just spectator but actually participate. I started running about twelve years ago and I like to go daily if I can. I also participate in road races and am preparing for my first half-marathon in Florida in January 2007.

I am also a PADI certified recreational scuba diver and have dove to 100 feet!! Where I live we have alot of shipwrecks and artificial reefs to explore, as well as the discovery of a German U-boat submarine and just lately a shipwreck believed to be one of the pirate Blackbeard's fleet called the Queen Anne's Revenge.

So, what is it that you do?

Scuba diving, very cool, krausy! I can do the doggy paddle and that's about it.

Well, I did marching band for four years if that counts for anything! It's quite a workout and difficult as well but most people tend to blow it off as if it were nothing...

Other than that, I've got nothing. Unless furiously typing at the keyboard or spending long hours using the mouse in Photoshop mean anything! I'd like to run but I've got weak ankles, so that's no good.

Honestly, the older I get the more exercise I do - got to stop everything sliding south. :D

I play squash, do pilates and weight training and lots of cycling...the intention being to look half decent when I'm 60.

I love sport , though college has taken all my time during the last 4 years.

I did dancing [ballet and everything else] for 8 years [my frustrated passion] , I did roller and figure skating , swimming , mountain bike ...
I'll see if I can do some figure skating next school year because my muscles are going to stagnate if I don't move!!

Jose Mourinho - sour-faced b*gger - but cute!

I never knew Richard was sporty - interesting. I wonder if he still does sports? Mind you, they never looked like they did any sports did they? All too flipping skinny. AND it would ruin the hair - all that running around and getting sweaty.

I used to play squash but I have not played it for a long time.
I don't do any sports, I just try to do some pushups because I need more upper body strenght, because i'm going to to army next year.
Problem is i'm a girl so it's hard for me.

I don't really play any sports- But I do go to a gym and lift weights, bike, treadmil all that good stuff. I also think bowling is a lot of fun! Don't go often though- Way too expensive!

Thanks gang---I love all the answers!!!!!!

I did not know that about Richard--that is very interesting!!!!

Hey, the gym does count in this case as sport, so those of you doing that, good for you!!!

Yoga is a talent in and of itself so Laura I am in awe!!!!

And I agree about the texting and of course talking on here--it is a workout on the fingers and in my case fires up my Carpal Tunnel but oh well!!!!

As far as watching sports on TV or otherwise, I went to an Atlanta Braves game years ago and was not impressed by baseball--sorry!!! Does this mean I am un-American? I used to go to football games in college but mainly for the social experience....and to smuggle adult beverage into the stadium....lol.

But then I grew up, and now I love to watch figure skating, gymnastics and snow boarding on TV, as well as the occasional NASCAR race, but I can't sit for the entire thing. My fave drivers are Dale Jarrett since he is sponsored by my work, and Jimmy Johnson since i used to work for Lowes, and I think he is an awesome driver.

If I could do any sport I can't do now it would be figure skating and I would skate to "Nightporter"

Hmmm...what to skate to....

Yes, Nightporter has the nice 3/4 time which is waltz-like....

I think I'd also go for something like Swing or Still Life in Mobile Homes...

They always get me up and dancing...

Sport, hmmm? Well, I do try to get to the gym as much as possible, but I haven't been lately. I do a bit of bike riding and along the beach walking. I also like to play a bit of basketball with my daughter. She'll be on a team again next year, so we'll be out practicing again. :) That's lots of fun and good exercise. We also like to go skating (rollerblading, but I did get a pair of regular speed skates I might start using!!).

Otherwise, unless it's a group gathering playing some stuff, that's about it for me. Not much of a baseball fan, but I like my BoSox. I do get excited for American footsball. Go PATS!!!! Although now that I'm in FL, I gotta give some love to the Bucs. :-D
