Wow, Thank you for your warm welcome! :D

> not so many Japanese people here, wonder why.

I wonder why, too.
Maybe they are lazy to use English.
I'm not good in English. I don't use English in my daily life, except online.
I heard Steve and Richard studied Japanese, I'll follow their example.

Hard Candy by Ned Doheny, it's awesome sweet album, a kind of virgin killer... I guess.

I've never heard Stevie Wonder around Japan. It's interesting. :D

David Sylvian - Secrets of the Beehive
Nine Horses - Snow Borne Sorrow
The Beatles - Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band
Echo and the Bunnymen - Ocean Rain
Talk Talk - Spirit of Eden
Talk Talk - Laughing Stock
The Chameleons - Strange Times
Kraftwerk - Computer World
Stephen Duffy - I Love My Friends
Depeche Mode - Black Celebration

So many others...very hard to make this decision!
So...some others that could be on the list given my mood that day...Depeche Mode - Some Great Reward; The Lilac Time - Paradise Circus, Astronauts; China Crisis - Diary of a Hollow Horse; Prefab Spout - Jordan: The Comeback; Stina Nordenstam - This is Stine Nordenstam; Bill Nelson - The Love that Whirls

Nice to see a nod to Stephen Duffy and The Lilac Time, Tin Bird. I love the Music in Colours album.

ok i feel so stupid.... Talk Talk created one of my all time favourite songs in the 80s "Its my Life". I can't believe I didn't remember that. I'm definitely going to get some other works by them

just a heads up that Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock are a million miles away from It's My Life. they sound quite a bit like some of the Raintree Crow album if that gives you any clue. the songs have to be given time too...no 3 min pop songs. You will love them!

I didn't really care for either on first listen... Both take a quiet place to listen to them, and full concentration! I didn't really 'get them' until maybe the 5th listen or so...

But then again nothing really jumps out at me at first listen... Sometimes, but not often!

It's funny you say that...when I first bought Laughing Stock in 91...I took it back...I really did not like it at all. Then, about 6 or 7 years ago I gave it another try....not sure why, just heard so many great things...after sitting through the whole album several times I just thought, wow, this is the best album ever! :D I then worked my way backword until I had everything by them!

Wow, that's a tall order - even a top 20 would be tough! I'll probably change my mind after posting this but I'm omitting all Japan albums and releases by any of the ex-members:

David Bowie - 'Hunky Dory'
Slowdive - 'Just For A Day'
Joni Mitchell - 'For The Roses'
Pandit Shivkumar Sharma - 'Feelings'
Low - 'Things We Lost In The Fire'
Joyce and Nelson Angelo - 'Joyce and Nelson Angelo'
Stina Nordenstam - 'And She Closed Her Eyes'
Rachel’s - 'Systems/Layers'
Françoise Hardy - 'La Question'
Yuriko Nakamuro - 'Wind and Reflections'

Tough tough choice. Here's mine in no particular order :

David Sylvian Secrets Of The Beehive
Talk Talk Spirit Of Eden
Pete Namlook Silence
Future Sound Of London Lifeforms
David Bowie Outside
Burial Untrue
Global Communication 76:14
Kraftwerk Minimum Maximum
Lamb What Sound
Photek Modus Operandi

When i first heard Spirit Of Eden it really opened me up to music beyond the pop song, i used to fall asleep with it playing through the headphones on repeat all night so it would warp my brain musically. I think it worked ! :-D

I have managed to bring it down to ten - subject to change, and of course in no particular order:
Scott Walker - The Drift
Mark Hollis - Mark Hollis
Daniel Lanois - Acadie
David Sylvian - Blemish (likely to be replaced by Manafon)
+minus - A Rainy Koran Verse (if you like the music on Manafon you should check this out)
Deathprod - Morals and Dogma
Plastikman - Consumed
Bass Communion - Ghosts on Magnetic Tape
Nick Drake - Pink Moon
The God Machine - One Last Laugh In A Place Of Dying (this would be the disc most likely to be replaced by any number of others)

Of course I could go on... (The Orb, Blue Nile, Kate Bush, Peter Murphy, Kings of Convenience, No-man, Marillion, Porcupine Tree, Francisco Lopez, Supersilent, Sigur Ros - to name but a few bands/artists)

Spirit of Eden is by far the most beautiful record ever made. I don't listen to it very often, but I have it in me and that is enough.
