Don't overlook this wonderful record by Arve H. And who knew Erik Honoré could sing like this?

Thanks. I had not heard that before. Arve doing his best Hassell there. And yes, your man Tigran sure can tickle the ivories.

Henriksen's new release is fairly good - "Saraswati" is probably the one track I have enjoyed the most so far. Though the track is performed in the conventional 6/8 time signature, the emphasis placed on some intricate accenting and stressed off-beats serves to bring something more unique to the overall feel of the song. But after three minutes it evens out into yet another one of Bang and Honore's tributes to the sounds created by the more experimental artists of the 80's. This duo certainly lives a bit too far in the past for my liking.
I tend to agree with critic Phil Barnes' assessment of the record when he summed it up, "If you appreciate the unearthly beauty of Miles Davis' He Loved Him Madly or Kenny Wheeler's flugelhorn on David Sylvian's Steel Cathedrals, you will be very much at home with this collection".
To go slightly off topic, upright bassist Lars Danielsson (who plays on one of the less interesting tracks on POW) had recently contributed to guitarist Dominic Miller's upcoming release Ad Hoc, of which I am anxious to hear the finalized outcome.
