Hey Tanya,

I saw Times Square when it came around to the theatres back when it was released. I already had the soundtrack album by then and knew all the songs really well by the time it was shown. It was a double LP by the label ran by Robert Stigwood (produced Grease and Saturday Night Fever film and soundtrack), who had made megabucks with the BeeGee's disco success. Times Square was his attempt to tap into the New Wave scene. It was and is a good collection of songs, similar to URGH! A Music War album (also a soundtrack but all live tracks).

The Roxy Music song is 'Same Old Scene' from the Flesh and Blood album. This song became popular after a Miami Vice episode featured it. Also, Tanya, you may like this clip...

The film is not so great, IMHO. Very Decent but predictable teen-goes-rebellious drama, whitebread girl from the 'burbs meets street-wise gal and they learn that nightlife is exciting and dangerous in spots. I think Tim Curry plays a DJ who gives a good excuse to spin lots of new (at the time) songs on screen. No bands actually appear, that I remember, but may have in a club scene or two. Mostly I remember recording the LPs onto a cassette and driving along to the songs all that summer. The Cure and The Ruts songs made a big impact at the time. I already was into Gary Numan and Roxy Music... Now for some links for ya...
