I'm not posting this to be mean-spirited, it's simply an observation based on having seen many posts on many forums where someone threatens or declares that they are going to leave:

If someone posts about leaving they never do, they are usually looking for attention or some sort of validation.

Those that really do leave don't post about it, they just leave.

I'm fairly sure that Neonico is still here, but simply not posting.

Totally agree John, have seen that before.

And see this... it proves it more or less.

I for one don't know why you all seem so angry, if neo wants a break so what? To say she's attention seeking is mean spirited. Nobody knows what goes on in peoples lives.
She has contributed a lot to this forum especially photos. I think there is jealousy at work here. :(

Jealousy? Come on, now that's funny! Jelaous of... what?

I am just pointing out that I totally agree with what John said. I've seen those cases a lot in other forums indeed. And creating alts to confuse everyone and pretend that you are gone when you are not, I'd say that's mean and not what we said.

No jealousy at work at all - I'm here mostly for news and updates and I rarely get involved in any of the other sorts of discussions. As I said, my comment was not meant to be mean-spirited... simply an observation based on seeing this same thing happen many times before.

If you think about it, why would someone want to make a post telling everyone on the forum that they are leaving? If they had a problem with another member shouldn't they handle that by contacting the member personally? If that was not successful would they not then contact the forum owner?

What exactly is the motivation for broadcasting a public statement to the entire forum declaring "im gone"? It seems obvious that the intent is to count on several people to post back saying "Don't go", "Please stay", etc. This then validates the original poster so that they may rub it the face of those that they feel slighted them.

I'm not saying that I dislike neonico in any way, she may have a very good reason to be upset, however there are better ways to go about resolving such issues.

I would like to clarify that it only was a suspicion regarding the alt.

Okay it's a suspicion, that's true Kera... but a few came to the same conclusion separatedly. And an account called David with mysterious posts... whoever it is it's very weird.

And John, you said it very well there :)

Hi Kera - as admin I am sure you check ip adressess to see if there are doubles - if you saw nothing suspicious may we conclude no alt's seem to have been used?

Yes, I was wondering this too..

I have a sneaking suspicion that if 'David' were an individual in his own right he would have would have come forward by now and offered some explanation as to his true identity and he was just having a lark! But my gut insticts are that it is more likely Neo who is probably having a right old laugh at all this!

Yes, I check the IP's... And for now the best I can say is 'suspicious'. I'm really not at liberty to go into more detail. My job on here is to keep the peace... ;)

I suppose a member who leaves a forum will do it quietly if the reason is lack of interest.
If the reason is anger or other deeper feelings I can understand that it will ( perhaps ) feel
better to say so in a post. ( or write a song about it...)
And maybe it´s sometimes wise to make a new start without a past ? :smt031
