Violets flower in the autumn too. I have one on my office desk and, co-incidentally, I was asking one of my colleagues 'when does it flower?' And I was told, late autumn. So Ippu-do are correct!!!

actually violets flower all year round if in the right conditions. They are a annuals where i live but easily are perennials elsewhere. I have violets that have been blooming since this spring. Then of course there are african violets ... they have a glorious cycle of blooming the most wonderful sugary looking flowers then they go to sleep for a while. :-)

Thank you for telling it. :D
I made a little search, and I found I was wrong. Sumire (flower) is "viola", but Japanese violas are not brother of pansies, they are kinda cousins of pansies... it said.
I start to think Masami Tuchiya is right, he sings
"you are a dream or a illusion"
"you-you-you a dream is blooming"
Sumire is a girl and flowers, anyway, it's a illusion or a dream, dreamy song, and Japanese girls were tiny like viola in those days. :-D
oh, it's already October in Japan now...

ern, viola=violet ? I'm sorry , I'm so confused :?
