Joan as Police Woman - To Survive

Postby Adrian on Thu Jul 03, 2008 5:14 am

Don't know if it's been mentioned yet, but Joan Wasser's (who worked with Steve on 'Slope') new album features a small vocal contribution by David; so if you are getting the album anyway/were thinking of getting it - it might be a nice bonus. Anyway, can't wait to get home and give it a proper spin. Sounded good in the shop...

i somehow havent listened to it a lot. it is very similar to her first album (which i like), at least to my ears. sylvians contribution is of course interesting, but not really worth buying the album for.
i'll give it a few more spins though, i'll see her live in August.

She was the gf of Jeff Buckley though (and the last person who saw him alive I think).

I have to be honest I really don't get this album-why ask someone with Sylvian's vocal ability to essentially "moan" in the background of Honor Wishes and then do a duet with Rufus Wainwright on To America, no offence Rufus if you have stopped by

Perhaps Sylvian heard the material beforehand and decided it was only worth the minimum of effort!!! Just a little bit of moaning n groaning. Lets hope he was well paid for his efforts!

gave this album a decent listen this evening, and i have to be honest; this is quite nice. the sylvian track is still not a favourite though.

Astronaut- I had a similar thought to you in that perhaps he was offered the duet which eventually went to Mr Wainwright but didn't like it, or maybe he just fancied a good moan, we have all been there
