What I've heard of Jim Kerr's solo album is quite promising. It's due for release later this month.

a-ha 'Scoundrel Days' Album... sounds a little dated, but this album has some amazingly powerful songs, title track especially.

i used to have this album and as you say ,it has some really powerfull tracks on it, i also liked "the swing of things".
I did go to see them ,twice in fact, on this tour and the one around 1991,on the latter gig they were absolutley superb,in some ways a vastly underrated band,i think i am gonna have a look on ebay for scoundrel days ,lol

Yeah, I think they were underrated, as they were perceived as just another bunch of pretty boys for young girls to scream at, but a lot of there material was quite dark and certainly more powerful than a lot of the bands they would have been lumped in with. I still get their albums, when they appear [saw them live once too], but I think the last good one was 'Minor Earth Major Sky' - the first two are still my favourite.

At the moment I have Paul Weller’s new one on ‘Wake Up The Nation’ – not sure about myself. Some say it’s his best in years, if not his best since the Jam, but I’m not convinced. I find the production very jading to listen too, being very dry and harsh, and the songs just don't click with me – I think ‘Wild Wood’ and ‘Stanley Road’ are far better personally.

"The Concrete Twin". It takes a few listens to sink its hooks in then you tend to think about it and find yourself humming bits in strange places. Was in the Hy-Vee last night then started the darned humming. It was "Presence". There is a hook in that tune that is so gorgeous it makes me want to cry. More so last night than last week of course... :smt022

Stranger in Moscow - Michael Jackson

(I confess, I've never really listened to MJ before... only heard a few of his most popular songs on the radio and assumed it wasn't my taste... but my tastes have a habit of changing... and now, almost a year after his death, I 'discover' him. Marvellous.)
