OMG, I had no idea. So sorry to hear what you've been going through, but so glad to hear that you've found such an amazing surgeon and that things are improving. Much love and thinking of you. Mx

FYI about retinal detachment; yes, it is repairable if you catch it in time. Anecdotally, this happened to my mum. She was walking to work and saw something black come down over her eye, but because she had a rubbish boss she carried on to work and stayed all day, and then after that she went to the optician. They virtually put her in a taxi to the hospital and they operated the same day to stop the tear going any further, so she didn't lose her sight.

The moral of the story is that if this ever happens to you - or anyone - don't go to work all day, get to hospital because time is of the essence!

I'm really glad to hear the pro doctor 'fixed' your eye!
And you can do the thing you love again-photography!
Get well soon!
And ya, some good Sylvian music can help you...

Sending HUGS,

the other night i listened to the live version of forbidden colours from ryuichi's cd.... it was like i was hearing david sing for the first time. It is the most amazing version of this song. I think it is the best version. So much emotion and depth in his voice.

And, Yes I've heard of that (retinal detachment) happening to someone else I know... as if a window shade is being pulled down on one eye. I would never allow a boss to keep me at work in such a situation. My friend who had this happen thought they were having a stroke... they drove immediately (yes that's right they drove) to the emergency room and they too were taken immediately into surgery for it.

Since childhood I have always taken any eye problem i get very seriously and thoughtfully. I had a traumatic eye injury to my left eye at the age of 4 and was lucky to once again have a fantastic eye surgeon. Apparently because of how sharp the object was that I plunged into my eye it was easier for them to rescue my eye's vision. The dr. at the time told my mother that i definitely stabbed myself with the right thing instead of it being say a stick from outside. This is a fair warning to parents out there with kids that are small and curious... there is a reason adults told us not to run with injurous objects.
If you're wondering I accidently stabbed myself in the eye with a sewing tool called a seam ripper.

The eye injury you described when you were 4 makes me cringe! So glad you were able to get your vision back!

As for your eye surgery, congratulations! I am very happy that this worked out for you. My Spanish teacher had the same surgery on both eyes. For a few days after he had to wear some mega-giant shades, but he has gone from blind as a bat to just wearing glasses when reading. He loved it!
