Anybody have a recommendation for a good book about progressive rock? The few I've seen are rather out-of-date, would love to find something that covers the genre more recently.

This is the closest thing that I could think of...it's not just alternative. I remember flipping through it and seeing Japan, and Hanoi Rocks.

I was at Borders yesterday, they didn't have this book, didn't have much in the way of good music books in general, loads of bios mainly about artists I don't give a d*mn about, lol. Few books about genres - the ones they do have are mostly punk and heavy metal. Ah well...

Neither yields anything except old books (like Rocking the Classics: English Progressive Rock and the Counterculture by Edward L. Macanhowever, which is very good btw), but I did find one to be published book on Amazon.com.uk, A History of Progressive Rock - The Music is All That Matters by Paul Stump - a revised 2nd edition coming out next February - I've hopes for that.
