Mick Karn - Titles

Postby Sylvian's Beard on Sat May 12, 2007 1:06 am

I am fiending to hear Mick Karn's, "Titles". Would someone be kind enought to upload to megaupload or rapishare, so that I can give it a listen? I have every intention of buying it, but I have to order it over Amazon, and these 30 second clips don't cut it for the time being.

PRETTY PLEASE!? :-D

Is it? I haven't heard a single song that Mick has done on his own.

Someone once said "Titles" was a bass player's dream.
It's really good stuff.

Go to Silvermoon's MySpace, she has four of Mick's songs in her MP3 player:

It's amazing. I can't put into words how great it is. I am not very good at articulating these kinds of things, but my favorite songs are Trust Me, Sensitive, Saviour Are You With Me?, and Piper Blue. His voice is really great but, I wish he would have explored the singing side a bit more though.

I remember buying Titles when it was orginally released and "Tribal Dawn" is just immense.

It's better than Brilliant Trees IMO.

tee hee hee, thinking about getting Mick's album for sure :), saw his 82' or 83' interview on you tube, in which, one of his songs was featured on a dance routine & it's been stuck in my head ever since :)

Nah, I still prefer Mick's first album over David's.

I have to politely disagree, but thats what opinions are all about, other wise it would be one dull place.
I don't see anything on Titles that comes close to Nostalgia or Ink In The Well, and I also think Pulling Punches and Red Guitar are better then anything.
Don't get me wrong, I like the album, as I said before Tribal Dawn has an amazing bass line on it, just sounds more like an experimental piece as opposed to the finished article.

I've been listening to Brilliant Trees a lot. I love most of the songs on there but I think Pulling Punches sounds out of place. I love the words but the music seems to not fit the words...maybe it's just me *shrugs*.

I used to have a copy of Titles somewhere on tape. The fact I don't really know where it is, is perhaps indicative of my opinion. I thought it was and is utterly awful. Doesn't work as an album at all. To me it has the artistic merit of a toasted chipmunk. Dreams of Reason is much much better, if a little under-developed in places. No chipmunks in sight.

Opinion only. Not citing the above as fact; each to their own. I quite like Status Quo in their earlier days, so go figure....there's no accounting for tatse, but I just had to speak out about how awful I think Titles is. The cover is just a mess as well. But then, so is my hair...
