loud and dark

Postby dylan kerr on Sun Jun 17, 2012 6:42 am

When I am alone in my amazing 17th century house with walls that are 3 feet thick I turn the Lights out the music up and listen to my top5 David Sylvian songs
1 is Maria
What do you think the others are? And what would your top 5 songs that you could play?
I find when I play these songs my end of the day is good and I sleep with a great feeling

Darkest dreaming will always mean a lot to me, I took a tape player on Holiday to Nerja (Spain), one evening we decided to have some food on the beach with the kids instead of going out. Took the tape player and my new tape of Dead Bee`s (you can guess how long ago this was by the word "tape")

So there we are, sat on a big blanket, my wife in my arms the kids asleep at our feet, watching day slowly turn to night, with "darkest dreaming" playing.

I have always had a small amount of spirituality in my life but I can honestly say that for that 5 short minutes was the happiest I had been since my children’s birth, and I believed that the beauty of that moment could only be a gift from above.

Hence why I can be driving my car now on a winters day in Birmingham and be back in Nerja as soon as that song comes on (now on Ipod)

Mutability ( a new begining.....) is nice to listen to in dark room late at night,
This topic takes me way back to when i was a mere boy listening to Japan,, i used to have a cassette deck that had LED lights that got fuller as the music got louder (turned from green to red at some point). I used to turn off the lights in my room and those lights would flicker illuminating all around. Ghosts was great all dark then,, dom dom "just when i think i was winning..." .The room would light up and go dark again. Nightporter was so atmospheric too. Nightboat by Duran Duran was good too.
