The Dolphin Brothers - Face To Face

Postby georgelouk on Fri May 29, 2009 4:09 pm

I have been revisiting this lost classic album "Catch The Fall", which still holds many pleasures after all these years, when I realised that The Dolphin Brothers issued one last single, "Face To Face" after the release of the album. This track was included in the Japanese re-release of the CD, which is long deleted, and I haven't been able to find the song anywhere online - it's completely invisible!

Has anyone heard it? How does it compare to the other singles from the album? A link to an mp3 would be very nice...

Thanks,

George.

George, email me and ill send it on.
My email is c.hamlin@ntlworld.com

Its not a bad track, and would fit on the regular album quite nicely.

Would you mind if I email you too for it? I have it on vinyl but because of it I can't listen to it so much!

It's possibly my fave Dolphin Brothers track - very strong chorus and uptempo - obvious single material (in a light summery pop kind of way) and it's a shame it didn't come out over here.

If you like "Catch The Fall" a lot you'd enjoy the Takahashi albums from the same era.

Thanks to Craig (a.k.a. "Despair") I was able to listen to "Face To Face" and it is a beautiful song, worthy as a single and it is unfortunate that it is not widely available. (Lets hope that it will be included in a future re-issue of Catch The Fall).

Unfortunately, the wma file that I got has a very low bitrate for me to burn it to a CDR (I am making a compilation of Japan-related tracks from that era). If someone has it as a lossless wma or as an mp3 at 320kbps (or close) I would appreciate it if you could email it to me at georgelouk@hotmail.com .

Thanks to all those who replied to my post.

George.

I have the CD, but I don't really have time to re-rip. Hopefully, this 192kbps mp3 will do.

Me too. He said something in an interview about his lack of confidence in his singing abilities. But that's all rubbish, Steve: it's always a pleasure to hear you sing.

Maybe he thinks he sounds too much like his brother? I love his voice and I think it is quite similar, but unique in it's own way.

Though, I like the idea of a Steve Jansen solo album with vocals. The same people who may not care for Manafon may find refuge in such an album. I mean, maybe it would be more in their ballpark musically, with the beautiful vocals on top?

.... Or not? Who knows?!
