Oh gosh. I've changed my mind about 11 times now. :D I love them all, but I go all weak at the knees whenever I hear GTP. It just brings back so many memories.

I guess mine is probably "Swing", I remember them performing that on the Old Grey Whistle Test and it was amazing.
I am amazed that only 1 person voted for "Ain't That Pecuilar", I really adore that track.

haha, relax IN swing.. can i join the club of lovers of the "Relax and swing" phrase? David's voice is beauuuuutiful as ever in it!

My favorite track is Gentlemen take polaroids. THAT HAS TO BE THE MOST STYLISH TRACK IN THE WHOLE UNIVERSE. i so adore those stylish synth things.. plus it's a Japan song that doesn't depress me (even though that the ones that depress me, they do that in the good way!) it's just plain stylish and oh my, i think it's my favorite Japan song. so stylish..

Though i adore the whole album - especially tracks like the mentioned Swing, the beautiful and sad Nightporter and the stylish to death Taking islands in Africa.

Taking Islands in Africa. It has such a grand feel to it, I love it. And it is by far and away my favorite Japan song!

Yes, the beautiful and sad Nightporter it is for me, too. Took a long time with this album to pull out a fave, it's so good, but in the last few months Nightporter has just been resonating with me.

"TAKING ISLANDS IN AFRICA" has a beautiful melody and great synths...really amazing stuff there. It's hypnotizing and sends a chill down my spine at all those weird effects and the great chords!
"SWING" has a nice driving beat and is a better dance song, but I love them both the same.
:-D

I vote for swing, but as the matter of fact I love every single track... It's terrible not being able to vote for more than one

I know I'm going to keep changing my mind but for now, right now, I'm going for the title track! It was the first Japan song I ever heard and I kind of feel that same fresh excitement every time I hear it.

Having said that...and having read this discussion...I really want to listen to Swing now though!! :D

Silver Moon wrote:I also thought it was "Relax IN Swing" too. Also, I have no clue what he says in the middle of the song- I have looked at different lyrics websites, and they all say 3 different things. "Someone you'll neither know nor hear" or "Someone you'll never know again" or is it "Someone you'll never know or care"

That's been bugging me forever!

As for GTP and Swing- Two of my favorite songs ever!!

-Kera-

I think he sings "Someone you'll neither know, nor get". :)

If I had to pick a clear favourite then it will have to be..........

'My New Career'........

I was watching the 'Old Grey Whistle Test' recording the other day and even after all these years it is still a finely constructed piece of brilliance..........

I completely agree with this - I've only heard the recording from Old Grey Whistle Test as I don't have the record/ CD yet, and it's just amazing!
I love the beginning bit, it doesn't sound like anything else I've ever heard. It's hard to explain, really.
