Runner up would be 'Sometimes I feel so low' - there's something very strutty and funky and almost Bowie-esque about it.....

Posted: Mon Jun 05, 2006 4:01 amAs Assemblage was the first album I bought, Rhodesia is probably the first Japan song that really captured me and got me hooked. For that reason it always means so much to me....I find it quite sad in a reflective sort of way - still havent a clue what it's about though! I just love the feel of the song...

Posted: Fri Dec 03, 2010 11:42 amAplolgies for ressurecting an old thread, but I really like Suburban Berlin from this album, right from when I first heard it on a cassette of Assemblange I bought from a market stall. I have a thing for Weimar-era Berlin, which helps, but also the chorus is great.
Not mad keen on Rhodesia - Japan didn't seem to have a handle on Reggae in the same way that other bands of roughly the same era such as The Clash and Bauhaus did. I don't think Bauhaus went completely reggae at any point, but they certainly co-opted the basslines to great effect.
