Thank you, Mick!

I just want to say that I think Mick Karn is one of the most stylish, talented bass players ever! He is also the one who has inspired me to start playing bass! And if I ever met him- I would say "Mr Karn... Thanks!" And is that gliding-walk thing he does on "Oil On Canvas" cooler than cool or what?!

Yeah his duck glide was cool - dunno how he'd react if you did a demonstration when you met him though

Yeah! He's really cool!! I love those bass lines. He's one of the greatest bass players ever [in my case, among with Mr John Taylor ^^] . I think he's very underrated...just the same for the whole band.

It's cool you're learning to play the bass, Kera!!!

Agreed with all of the above! ;)

Very cool about playing the bass, Kera! I'd like to pick up a string instrument, since I already play clarinet and keyboard. If anything, I'd really love to learn to play drums, thanks to Mr Steve Jansen. He's brilliant.

Mick has amazing natural talent, a gifted musician all round.
I love the way he feels out the notes when he plays.

If you ever get the chance to meet him, he's bloody funny too!

That, right there, is what makes him so cool!!!!!! He is charismatic, and the first time I saw him glide across the stage "Holy_____"!

Hope to meet him or at least see him live someday.

Mick Karns rubbery fretless bass playing - easily one of the most seductive musical sounds I have ever heard. No really...

I could listen to it all day.

Yes! I had never heard such groovy bass until "Gentlemen take polaroids" and I was hooked! I also love his facial expressions while playing, and that thing he does with his head... Kind of moves it side to side... TOO COOL!

PS: I also have a pair of old shades just like Mr. Karns while he's playing "Art of Parties" on the OGWT! They are my favorite shades... Now if only I could see through them- They're prescription!

Micks performances on the OGWT just leave me speechless!!!!! he doesnt even look what he's doing but look at his hands playing - thats some compliacted bass playing if i say so myself!! and he looks so amazingly cool on there too - those sunglasses are great 8)

he is definitely one of the most underrated bass players of all time, there's noone else like him and agree with what was said above about Steve too. you only have to listen to visions of china to realise how great that man is.

oh, and MoodyB - i am very jealous of you :smt045

...and to think he couldnt read music and taught himself....that is some talent.

He elevates the bass guitar to totally new levels of originality...

Indeed, it's one of the things I love about Mick!
I always seem to be drawn to players who have that natural talent.
Jeff Beck is another prime example of this type of player.
I was actually talking to Jeff a few years ago back stage about Mick (my mother used to date Jeff!), I was going to suggest that they work together as they have both collaborated with Terry Bozzio, Jeff was just about to answer when his road manager hauled him off!
*Much gnashing of teeth on my part!*
The combination of Karn, Beck and Bozzio would be mindblowing!

Indeed it would be...that album Jeff Beck did with Terry Bozzio was stunning...I can see Mick's bass fitting in very well....

There's two bassist in the world i wanna meet....one is not around (Jaco) rest in peace. Mick is the other. Both plays fretless bass. Both brilliant in his own rights.
Mick is an all round artist may it be music or fine arts.
RESPECT is all I have for him.
If only he and the rest of the chaps from japan would get back together.
The world is really missing something since 1982.
I'm not counting RTC, because it was mostly DS in control
