Mick's Birthday

Postby Darkest Dreamer on Tue Jul 25, 2006 9:46 pm

I would like to wish Mick a happy one also.

He once inspired me to wear china flats, and though they provided absolutely no arch support, were quite stylish in 1984.

My best friends at the time, Alisa, Orchid and Jayne (she put a y in her name to be more new wave) also wore china flats to be like Mick. I can still remember discussing china flats as well as those big burgundy glasses David wore in Visions of China. Orchid actually went out and bought a fake pair and wore them around school even though she didn't need glasses.

ha ha that's funny... i had the china flats too... can't recall what the inspiration was for them. Also, after seeing molly ringwald in Pretty in Pink I went out and bought a pair of round metal frames to be like her... non prescription... HA HA... the things we do when we're young!!!!

I wore the China flats too, but they were all the rage here back in the day (why.........I'm not sure, all i know is everyone at school had them) and this was waaaaay before I even knew who Japan were, or Mick for that matter.

I bought some China flats today when I went school shopping. I couldn't find actual china flats big enough for my size 12 feet (The biggest they had were 7's!) So I got some that were leather and had a little bit of a heel- But they still looked cool!!

yeah, at our school you HAVE to stay until 3:05 unless you have co-op, but there are some people that can weasel out an hour early. There are also no study halls at my school so you have to take classes.
