Very sad indeed. I was under the impression he was fighting the cancer, and hadn't kept up with the latest news when I read it in a Swedish newspaper this morning. Quite a shock :(.

One by one they leave us, and the world feels smaller and emptier...

Listening to Dreams of reason produce monsters now, remembering all the beautiful music he created...

Jansen pays tribute to his close friend and says, “Mick remained a creative energy to his final days, and his strength and dignity was to be truly admired. He will be greatly missed”.

A good photo of Mick I've not seen before on the Mojo article.

I hear them breathing
They know what I have done, all that I've been through
I tell them secrets
And who's to say it isn't so?

RIP Mick...

Oh.
Nobody said that, and it´s maybe not nice to say it so soon after it happened, but RIP Japan.
There´s no way they could reform now.

This World is not Conclusion,
A Species stands beyond -
Invisible, as Music -
But positive, as Sound -
It beckons and it baffles ...
Narcotics cannot still the Tooth
That nibbles at the Soul.

As soon as I leave this version of reality, I will be one of the first in the queue to hear your heavenly concert.
God Bless you Angel.

This was a small tribute to Mick on the Tom Robinson show on 6 Music
last night.

Tom speaks to Jakko Jakszyk on the telephone about working with Mick.
What does come to light is that both Jakko and Steve (Jansen) worked on the Dali's Car
follow up project with Mick and Peter Murphy. It sounds like 4 or 5 tracks were completed
so it could either be an EP or mini album release?

Here's the link. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/console/b0 ... 07_01_2011
The tribute starts around the 1:35 mark
It kicks of with 'Sons of Pioneers' .............that Bass!!!!!!

I hadn't heard the news until just now - Planet Rock played Don't Rain on my Parade as tribute. Having just lost my still young father to cancer just before Christmas I know his family will be grieving but also relieved that the awful nature of this disease is over and he is now at peace.

My thoughts are with them and all those of you affected.

RIP Mick.

Very sad news about someone who was a true innovator. What is also sad is that someone blessed with such talent had to spend his last few years struggling financially when so many with little talent derive such financial success from the music industry.
I thought his book was a very good read for any fans of that period. I appreciated his honesty which hid nothing and made for an intriguing read.
RIP Mick, gone but never forgotten.

Still in shock and can't quite figure out the right words to say...It's so desperately sad that someone so talented can be taken so early. Sending lots of love and healing energy to family and friends grieving. xx

I'm not the same person I was three weeks ago, just thinking of Mick Karn dying in agony of cancer and I'm in tears, mute and blinded.

I want to do something great for someone now; I want to live the coming days long and inspired, happy to rest my head at night whilst simultaneously excited to wake up for the sunrise; I'm still quite in shock and all this is too much - I can't think of anyone who deserves to die less than Mick...the years will pass and I am going to miss him so much. :(

I know how you feel. We're all going to miss Mick, but at least he was not alone, he had people who loved him close by his side and spread all around the world.
Go on and so something great for you, now: get any one of Mick's records, put on your headphones, and let that bass talk to you. He went too soon, but, through his music, he will always be with us.

Posted up today:

Mick's funeral service took place yesterday afternoon, Monday 17th January, in West London.
The private ceremony was attended by close friends and family.

A day of immense sadness, but also a celebration of the life of a very unique man who was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.

I tell them secrets
And who's to say it isn't so?
