Well said...why should David feel pressurised into putting something on website? I can't understand all this unfair criticism towards David because he chosen to not publically announce his concern for Mick. Why would/should he? They haven't spoken for years. Their relationship is something that no-one will understand. It's between the two of them, not us. If David chooses to not support Mick through this, I have no problems with that. They have both moved on from each other.

Completely agree with these sentiments. Mick's situation is deeply upsetting - fingers crossed for his treatment. David's response is none of our business. Best to do all WE can.

Certainly, best to do all WE can, but for all Davids proclamations of spirituality, lets hope he comes thru for his old friend, at this time, where a fundamental question has been raised.
Not in public, but privately.

Can i just say, that Angie Bowie is deeply upset about the news and has been helping the cause on her FaceBook page !

Hello! Hawk has been away for a while as is moving house... Kera, thank you so much for your email. I wouldn't have known about Mick otherwise... I have recently lost my uncle to cancer. It is scary how it can creep up on absolutely anyone, even the healthiest person.

Mick...

Hawk prays for Mick and his family and has donated as much as he can. It is so great to read about all these people who are helping.

Neonico your garlic cod liver oil thing sounds disgusting!! :-) I hope you are ok.

Just to tag onto Isa's post, here is some more information on that auction:

As many of you know, legendary bass player Mick Karn (Japan, Jansen Barbieri Karn, Rain Tree Crow, no-man) was diagnosed with cancer earlier this month.

Following on from the success of the Porcupine Tree "Anesthetize" auction for the Mick Karn appeal, Burning Shed are now offering a special bundle by mrs.vee recordings / The Resonance Association:

- A special personalised compilation of unreleased demos and alternative mixes (CDR)
- Failure of The Grand Design (CD)
- We Still Have The Stars (heavyweight vinyl)
- Clarity In Darkness (CD)
- Two t-shirts (band logo and No Secrets Only Codes, along with the accompanying CDR)
- Additional bonus items (promo discs and related ephemera) from the mrs.vee archive

All proceeds from this auction will go to Mick Karn and his family.

Please bid generously! The higher the bidding goes, the more inclined we'll be to add in special bonus items to the bundle

The auction ends on Sunday 20th June.

(Sorry for those on japan-pioneers for the cross-posting)

Firstly, I think some people are being a bit harsh on Sylvian. After all these years, and after some hurtful things have been said by both sides, he probably needed some time to take it all in and decide if he wanted to respond in some way to this dreadful news. He probably always knew that he would respond. He probably just wanted to think about it. We should all know that years of hurt followed by years of distance cannot be overcome in an instant, regardless of the circumstance. The Midge ure thing is a red herring. We all know that, at times, it can be easier for someone with less emotion invested in a relationship to appear to respond better in times of trouble. This is what Midge does. It most definitely isn't what Sylvian does.

Secondly, what's the big deal about this needing to be publicised on Sylvian's web site? Perhaps private contact had already been made with an offer of support. We just don't know so it seems a bit premature to jump down the guy's throat for not instantaneously posting something on this web site. It sometime seems these days, at least amongst the British, that what the public demands is these surface displays of chivalry and respect: facebook pages, messages on web sites, hand shakes through gritted teeth, and the like. *Real*, personal, individual feeling is being lost Unless something is being played out in public, it ain't happenening. Apparently.

Thirdly, if Sylvian decides to get involved in a benefit gig then that's fantastic. If he doesn't, don't condemn the guy. I will personally find it slightly distasteful if this benefit gig becomes all about a 'Japan reunion' or at least Sylvian performing with Barbieri and Jansen. That isn't what it's meant to be about - it's meant to be about Mick. There are those who are excited at the prospect, no doubt, but for me that smacks a little of opportunism in terrible circumstances.

I don't agree with all that Sylvian does and what the hell does that matter anyway. Like he cares. However, on this topic I just can't see where the criticism is coming from.

Let's support Mick in any way that we can, not look around for people to lash out at.

Greetings,
I have three unique , autographed pencil sketches for auction.
Two are of Mick, one is a three-piece ensemble of Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree).

I need some assistance with an auction and donation process.
Can someone on this list set-up these items for bid, on my behalf?
Thanks.
Be careful if someone asks you to lend them a hand.
You may never get it back again.
