I was gonna say the Art of Parties....such a complex pattern....I have most of the other ones down (I love the drums, oh how I wish I could afford a drum set) but The Art of Parties is just like wow, oh my god...

I'll tell you what else I like the drum pattern from Weathered Wall...I think I could probably do that though....although for how long I dunno...??

He is a wonderful drummer pure and simple!!

Seriously, probably Life without buildings or Canton.

Methods of Dance. Although I doubt I'd be a good student, I'd be too busy staring...

And why does Van Halen's "Hot for Teacher" come to mind?

Too many to pick from!
What I want to know is how he does those backwards rhythms...Not to mention his time structures, if anyone else used them, I don't think they'd work!

Just one song? Well, I'm not a drummer (my son is though), so whatever song he try teaching me would take at least a week or so...maybe even months... 8)

He's so underrated. His style is very tight, but pretty complex at the same time.

As I'm not a musician, most of that comment was lost on me :( , I think I'd need to have more than one drumming session with Steve so I could understand properly ;-)

Fave songs would be Ain't That Peculiar (I know it's a cover but the drumming on that *Phew*) and Methods of Dance.

Sorry!
I wasn't trying to be a muso here!
But I will say that Ain't that Peculiar is a great early example of what I was talking about in my previous post... ;-)

Ain't that peculiar is an absolute favorite of mine too.

I have been listening to GTP for 2 months now and nothing else, just can't get enough of Steve's fabulous drumming.

And I also love his drumming on the Rain Tree Crow album.

I have always loved to learn how to drum, but Steve actually made me do it by listening to how he plays the drums.
I don't care if I'm gonna be a crap drummer all my life, it's just the best decision I've made :P

Probably wouldn't be the best drum student that Steve could have, but would definitely pick Art of Parties, - I love the rolling effect in Steve's drumming. Would definitely take up a singing lesson from David though... heck, who am I kinding, would probably spend most of the time chasing him around the room!

Pulling Punches, The Art of Parties, Methods of Dance, Canton, Sons of Pioneers and Visions of China....those are the ones I can think of right now at least.

I expect that I too would require extra attention due to trouble concentrating on the task at hand, lol!
