The boy has been busy this past few years, and whilst im not over enamoured with his latest offering with John Foxx, it has to be said that SLOPE is a great piece of work, added with the Nine Horses stuff, and other recent offerings, Jansen is carving out quite a niche for himself.
There`s always a `but` tho isnt there ?

I do miss his percussive `lines` !!

I listen to lots and lots of music, everything from 50s R&R to World Music,Beatles to Arcade Fire, blah blah blah, but Jansen is the ONLY drummer whose `lines` i can follow and enjoy, as much as a vocal melody, or guitar solo.

In addition to his apparent ability, what I most admire about Steve's drumming is his sense of discipline and a high concentration level.

His drums on Human Age from one of the jansen/barnieri/karn records is really good...I think it was Beginning to Melt

Aaah, my topic!! Of course i'm not the only one here, who thinks Steve is a BRILLIANT drummer. I really like it when Steve puts some 'jazz' in it. So it's no surprise some of my favourites are:

Blue Of Noon ( I DJ at a local club in my city, and often start my set with this tune!)

If I could start a supergroup, this would be a nice line-up

Brian Eno - keyboards/synths (if he is not available Ryuichi Sakamoto would do, heh..)

Cool band there `Q`, tho id swap and put Fripp in place of Belew, anyday.

Well Despair, Fripp would also do I just think Belew´s work on Bowie´s Lodger is brilliant, especially Boys Keep Swinging, but the same can be said of Fripp on the song Heroes. Just about the best guitar part ever, if you ask me.

I dj on saturdays at a Jazz-Funk-Soul night in my hometown Arnhem, in the Netherlands. Ocassionally try to ´teach´ the audience what real good music is So when i start my set in a jazzy kinda way, Blue Of Noon fits in perfectly.

I´m also working on a cd of my own stuff, but that has nothing to do with the djing, nor with that kinda music. Maybe more influenced by, well.. You can only guess who
