I'm not sure I would bother, the two tracks are only related musically through their title Sylvian isn't connected to the other Heartbeat which is a bit of a disco track if you want to "shake your thang"

Am i wrong in recollecting that there was actually an alternate original version of Heartbeat which had Arto Lindsay's vocals and lyrics which was released internationally???....And then for the domestic version that was later released, Sakamoto and Sylvian replaced that version with those words and vocals created by Sylvian???....And then the Sylvian version was the version included on subsequent versions issued internationally???... i could be really wrong about this ... i am sure you all will let me know ... :D

Yes I think you are right the original Hearbeat from the Sakamoto album of the same name did feature a mumbled vocal at the beginning by Arto Lindsey which was removed when Sylvian included it on E&N

Ryuichi sent Dave his new album. Sylvian heard heartbeat and said he'd really like to do his own version. He re-wrote the lyrics and he and ingrid did the track after getting married in her apartment and visiting new orleans. not sure whether cloud #9 was on the original album, but that also features sylvian and ingrid.
heartbeat as an album is...ok. some lovely moments, but a lot of quite well, just quite boring stuff really.

hhmmm my understanding was they met on the Heartbeat song. She sent david some of her vocal work and he really liked it and decided he wanted to work with her on the Heartbeat piece. Then all the falling in love stuff happened and they were married in her apt. after only 2 weeks of knowing one another.
