I think I heard goodnight before, and thought it was terrible!

Thanks a lot for the track. The song is beautiful - very different of what I'm used to listen from Sylvian, but very nice.

I don't like her voice very much - too childish for me  But, you're right, David's voice sounds great.

Reading all the "hints" here made me think of this site:

http://markraynes.multiply.com/

Not my site - but Mark - where ever you are - a very big thanks. It filled several holes in my Sylvian collection.

Hope it helps :)
I found the way, by the sound of your voice.

There is clearly a huge amount of rare tracks where David has collaborated with other artists that could be at some point compiled into a box set.

The problem with that is that they span so many artists, styles and, in particular, record labels that it is unlikely ever to happen.

i was searching for ages to find the 12 inch of Some Small Hope.
I finally found it in the beginning of the 90s, and it was worth the wait.
it's slightly extended and with some extra vocal lines.

'Some Small Hope' is definitely the highlight from 'Hope In A Darkened Heart' but there are other highlights too, especially the title track. Unfortunately the heavy dependency on synth programming hinders the emotional impact of the album for me (nor has it aged well, as a result). Still, I do enjoy listening to it from time to time. I guess a part of me was hoping to hear more of a SOTB influence on it.

It's very interesting listening to this album - although it sounds like a collection of fluffy nursery rhymes, this was actually meant to have been a dark and quite bitter album (she was pregnant around this time but the father of the child refused to accept responsibility - hence the title of the album).

One of my oldest friends killed himself around the time of the release of 'Hope In A Darkened Heart' and 'Some Small Hope' was the track that opened up my heart to the loss. I was 21 or so at the time and when I heard this song I began to cry and cry and cry and could not stop. It remains to this day a reminder of my friend, Martin and how I miss him after all these years.

Yes, just checked - it's still on there just put in the search 'Goodnight Sylvian' - personally I think it's awful! It's a bit plinky plonky piano and she sounds like a Siamese cat that's had it's tail trodden on...meeooowwww
