At your service.....................

I have it---in particular the cd/dvd version. Cd is live in London 12/93 and the dvd is live 10/26/93 in Japan. Some of what is on it is stuff on E&N only live version. I like it simply to hear another version (in this case live) and I also like Fripp. Keep a lookout on ebay for this to come up again---I believe I got mine for about $15.00 or so and is imported.

Definately worth getting. If for only the title track. As good as anything he's done solo, imho. There's a good range of tracks on here, some more 'Robert' and some very definite 'Sylvian' moments. Remember, Damage is a live album taken from the 'First Day' album tour. I prefer Damage myself to The First Day, but both are worth having.

You won't regret it.

Damage DVD?

Not an official release surely? Never heard of it. I know there was a Japanese TV broadcast though.

I also have this release, got it from Ebay a while back...

The DVD is from the Japanese broadcast and it appears to be an official release (stamped DVD, not DVD-R).

There is a pic of it in the Gallery:

Hmmmm doesn't look official to me. No serial number, no barcode.

Could be wrong, but I don't think so. Release date 2005 as well - that's a bit suspect too. I think some enterprising soul has had some silver DVDs pressed up of the TV show and bundled them along with the CD.

hhmm it says its an official release on mine. It is from Holland I believe. But who knows. It is very good quality and even the case it is in is professionally done. Not at all "homemade" looking.

So yours is different again to John's (His is Damage)

Care to post some scans? Does yours have barcodes etc.

Never heard of either of these (not thart that means much)

Mine doesn't have any barcodes, which is suspicious - however if this is a bootleg they went to extreme measures to make it look official. It's a full-color digipak with glossy sleeves for each disc. As I said the discs are stamped, and the disc is screen printed in full color and appears to be created from a professional duplicator (not one of the print-at-home disc printers).

I have taken two pics of my complete package:

Damage One

Damage Two

Printed on the audio CD is "7243 8 11030 29 CDVE958 LC03098 Made in the EU P&C 2001 Virgin Records LTD"

Nothing similar is printed on the DVD disc...

In the credits it states:

Artwork: Shinro Ohtake
Artwork photography: Masataka Nakano
Design: Ikeda (67)
Co-ordination: Hisako Motoo/Yuka Fujji

This is all very interesting!

Hmmm nice package - although that alone does not guarantee it is real. You'd be REALLY surprised at the lengths they will go to to produce bootlegs. Often they are even pressed in legit pressing plants (workers are given 'bungs' to keep quiet.)

Next step. On the silver side of the discs, have a look at the inner circle, you should see markings and letterws/numbers - what are they?

The CD is - SFD-7797

The DVD is - SFDDV-7798

Also, CDDB reports the audio CD as "Damage [sylvian remix-version]"

Okay, my Damage is the exact same as John's. Everything is the same, and the numbers on the discs match.

Then, I also have this set, called David Sylvian/Robert Fripp The Road to Graceland , Special Limited Edition, 2 cds and 1 dvd,

cd 1--The First Day
cd 2--Damage
dvd--Live in Japan 10/26/93

no barcode, cd 1 has this on silver side--GP-ZZ0000685
cd 2--GP-00 GT 000263
dvd--GP-98 GT 000258 DVD

Bought them mainly because they looked cool as a package, and they had a dvd included. they do look very professionally done, so I did not even question in my mind them not being for real. I want to say I got mine from the same source, but I was buying so much different stuff at the time that I don't honestly recall who or where they were hailing from.

OK, well the European release of Damage should have this on the Silver Side of the CD:

EMI UDEN 8110302 @ 1
1-1-1-NL
IFPI L047

----------------
Reprints might differ slightly in code.
EMI Uden is the pressing plant.

-----------------

I did some searching Krausy, and your 3 disc set appears to be a Russian pressing, which pretty much says to me it's a bootleg.

Sonic

Oh and btw, i've been listening to both the 'Sylvian' and 'Fripp' versions of the album in the car this week. I have to say, I preferred the sound of the Fripp version - but that could change listening properly in the house
